Don't know what you mean by "stuck in gear" is the printhead not moving? Printwheel? you turn it on and nothing happens? look in yellow pages or this site for repair shop under 'typewriters'. SOUNDS LIKE THATS WHAT YOU NEED

The correction tape doesn't advance. Works for few words then just gets stuck

Remove the ribbon and correction tape, type a few words make corrections check the gear that drives the correction tape to be sure it is moving (you might mark it with a dab of white out) If it moves then your L/O tape is bad. I've found that some generic ones don't fully engage the drive gear.

Assuming this is an older oly you need the upper clear plastic portion of the printwheel case. Insert it onto the case, it unlatches the wheel.

Probably a broken belt and a stretched belt. Some of the brothers had a flat belt, you can try cleaning the belt with achohol and the pully it rides on.

Change margin

Do you see the lmar and rmar above the number keys printed on the cover? Move the carriage to where you want to set the left margin Then hold down the ALT key and depress the corresponding number key under the lmar symbol. Repeat for the right margin.

Selectric II typewriter

If you know how to remove the cabinet and dust covers spray every moving part with WD40 especially the cams and parts under the R. dust cover.

First off make sure the ribbon turns freely.Take off the ribbon and turn the ribbon wheel in the direction of the arrow and see if it turns smoothly. If it turns smoothly the ribbon motor is not moving or the gear is not moving. take off the ribbon and type. See if the black ribbon drive gear on the ribbon deck moves as you type. If not the motor is N.G. or the ribbon gear clutch spring is not grabbing the gear to turn it. Lawrence
