Question about Denon AVR-1403 Receiver

1 Answer

Front Panels buttons don't operate the correct function

The buttons on the front panels are not working anymore.
Speaker A/Speaker B does nothing.
Other buttons activate Speaker B.
All the buttons are all mixed up or not working.

I have tried to reset the micro, by pressing Spkr A &B at power-up, but it does not reset. I guess, it is because the buttons are not working...

Help!!!

Hi

Have you powered the unit down completely at the wall socket(disconnected) for 30 mins. This allows all program registers and functions of the microcontroller stages of the amp to fully reset. If may have a corrupted program counter for a power flip. Try this first, and if it does not help, get back to me here. If it sorts it... then FixYa :)Cheers

have you tried to reset it to factory defaults yet? If it has a vcr button on the front, then hold the vcr button and press power...it should say reset on the front. Might not help, but worth a try.

Speaker buttons don't function correctly

The Speaker A and Speaker B buttons select pairs of speakers. If you have connected a pair of speakers to the "SPEAKER A" terminals on the rear of your Onkyo receiver, you will hear stereo sound when the Speaker A button is pressed on the front panel. If, for some reason, you wanted to connect a second set of speakers in the same room or perhaps another room you would connect those speakers to the "SPEAKER B" terminals on the rear. Pressing both buttons on the front panel would send sound output to both sets of speakers

Hello,
Thanks for the detailed explanation...
It seems to be there is a short or misplaced (+) (-) leads on the speaker connection you made..sometimes a tiny cable piece can make a short in between the leads and cause such problem..My recommendation is:
** take all the wires off..
** install only B speaker leads and test it..( make sure LEFT and RIGHT (+) and (-) leads properly
and individually connected to the right places on the back......it is important...This causes balancing problem..
** if it works fine...
** than go ahead and install the A speaker leads..and test it..
if you do everything properly both A and B speakers should work fine as independently ...

Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up
for Helping out the Community :)

Hope this helps!

Denon DRA397 Panel lock on.

Hello,

Denon has for some reason removed this function from their user manuals. However The manual does show how to do a manual reset of the unit. This may correct the issue.

With the Amp OFF but plugged in, press and hold the speaker A and B buttons and while still holding them press the POWER button. Continue to hold the speaker buttons for another second or so. The display should all light up and flash at 1-second intervals. If not flashing, try again.

This should reset the unit back to factory state with the front panel lock disabled.

5ch/7ch stereo in 5 channel mode

Front panel button engaged for 5 or 7 channel operation? Also check front panel rear surround speakers button is engaged. Should get you back to 7.1 unless you have changed the rear surround speaker setup for a 2nd zone, also be sure you have a 7.1 DSP setting enabled.
