Question about Biostar P4M80-M4 Motherboard

1 Answer

I have a p4m800-m7 a mobo, and the computer starts up.. then....

I have just replaced my other mobo with this one (used) with a pentium D 2.66GHz processor. I'm not sure that i have all the smaller cables connected right like the "HDD LED".. so on and so forth with those. My computer boots up, goes to the xp pro loading page, then goes to my user password input screen. No later then like 5 seconds does the computer restart itself... what may be the problem ??? is there a nice "pictured" website that i can see the exact places those smaller cables go to on the mobo from the front of the computer tower..... PLEASE HELP !!!!!
THANK YOU !

You replace the motherboard with a different model? And you are using the same Windows installation from the previous motherboard? The reason that is happening is because your OS has the the drivers loaded for the other board. If you can keep it booted long enough, you need to try and reinstall the the drivers for the new board. (If its used, and you don't have the disk you have to get them from the manufacturer website.)

The place where the system shuts down is where the drivers should be loading.Could you possibly have a device driver hanging on boot?

Here is the download website for your particular mother board. Download the manual and it has very good on the connections as well as other useful information and drivers for the onboard properties.

Is P4M800-M7 mobo can support the pc333 sdram memory? Thank you.

Yes, according to the specs that I read the P4M800-M7 (socket 775?) is designed to support pc333.

Only one time I had a problem with an ECS motherboard, I had the correct memory, but the board had a different voltage requirement. Did not cause any issues, other than it didn't work. I don't think that this would be a problem for you though.

Bios upgrade

You can use Winflash to upgrade the motherboard BIOS or during boot using text or character driven interface . These utilities can be downloaded free of cost from the mobo manufacturer website. BUT MIND YOU IF YOU DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH OR NOT SURE OF THIS PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AS ANY ERROR IN THE PROCESS OF UPGRADING MOTHERBOARD BIOS WILL RENDER THE THE MOTHERBOARD USELESS. An 8x AGP PRO Card should work without hitches on tis mobo

Hi, A couple of things to check/try: 1. Make sure your video card (if using one) and the memories are properly seated to their slots. Do an R & R (remove, reinstall). It might also be a good idea to clean the little gold edge connectors; 2. Reset your CMOS/BIOS by using the onboard jumper near the battery. Restore to original position after reset; 3. Double check your master/slave jumper on both the HD and CD; Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
