Basically ##343 means the waste ink absorber needs replacing (soaks the spilt ink up under the cartridges).

Link to an official Canon service manual. That should tell you how to change it.

I changed my Canon PIXMA MP780 3e cartridge, and

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

OS X - Canon PIXMA MP780 printer won't print black

Unfortunately, I can't link you directly to canon's support pages, but if you go to this link, and enter won't print black and search, you'll get a list of possible solutions to troubleshoot this error. I'd start by checking your cartridge for ink, reseating it, print a test page, recalibrate the print head, etc. But that will get you started, at least.
If you have further problems please reply to this post and we'll help you get it sorted out...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Canon MP780 Printer Problem

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

##343

Hi, If memory serves me right, this indicates that the waste ink absorbent material is full. They are considered consumables and therefore are to be replace after some time as in your case since they are full. You can do it yourself buy it's a messy job and you have to buy the spongelike wasteink absorber. It may be better to seek the services of a qualified professional or the Canon service. Hope this be of some help to you. Good luck.
