Question about Pioneer AVIC-S1 GPS Receiver

Open Question

Pioneer SX950 Everything works perfectly. all the lights, meter needles, etc.... After the unit has been on for about 30 minutes the sound stops. Again, everything is working as it should be except there is no sound. When I turn it off for about an hour or so and turn it back on the sound works perfectly. Then, after 30 minutes there is no sound again. Any idea what might be the problem? Thanks, Greg

You need to go through the AV settings and change the Input 1 to IPOD.

SOURCE: when i hit about 15 mph the system resets

The speed sensor wire is to estimate your speed while GPS signals are not availible. You sometimes see problems when that wire is hooked to something it shouldn't be. Double check that connection.

SOURCE: The GPS portion of the Pioneer Unit in my motor

Sounds as if the disk is bad. You'll need to find a torrent download for the disk (there's one for the eastern part of the continent and one for the western part). If it's an .iso file you can burn it directly (as a disk image, of course, not as a file). If it's a .uif file, you can convert it to an .iso with uif2iso (http://aluigi.altervista.org/mytoolz/uif2iso.zip), then burn it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD (and Pioneer products seem to prefer DVD+R disks to DVD-R ones.) Or you can just buy a new disk for the exorbitant Pioneer price.

My AVIC navigation screen does not turn on

Hi,

if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Pioneer AVIC 700 sirius satellite radio stopped working, stuck on

My AVIC-F900BT was stuck on one channel and wouldn't change. There was no sound. Radio head detected Satelitte system, but no buttons worked. Found on the internet a solution that worked for me. I disconnnect the battery terminals for 5 minutes and then connected them. When the system rebooted, the Sirius radio worked fine. I'm posting this hopeing it will help someone.

Loose sound to left side

I have the same EXACT problem. Most of the time only the right speaker plays and the left doesn't but when they both play its very distorted. I've tried everything. Resetting the ipod does not work and its not the ipod because when I use it on my fiance's avic-x910 its perfect. If I remove my head unit and play with the wires its fixed but only for a short while. I've soldered the connections so they are solid but I still have this issue. Any help?

Tom Tom sound only works after 30 minutes

Hi,
The reason for your Tom-tom V2 not to have sound is due to a bad connection to the speaker. I am sure you have tried to reset the set. If yes please try to do the bellow mentioned steps.
Now it’s risky to take the back off as it is easy to damage screw poles if screws are tight. There is no guarantee that the problem will be fixed by tapping it with the back off, you can tap the back of the case where the speaker is anyway.
Lots of tom-toms have sound problems and it’s the cheap and nasty speakers they put in them in the first place.
Better to take it to a service centre and if its warranty make a claim

You need to unscrew 4 torx crews and pop out the back cover slowly. Remove the speaker's wire connector and check speaker resistance 3-4 ohm. Next reattach connector firmly and did a speaker test in volume preferences menu
Thank You for using Fixya.com

Voice is on but the unit stopped talking.

I don't know if this will help any, but when I updated my recently purchased tomtom go 720 with the newest app (8.3) and the new voices, map, etc...the voice feature completely stopped working on my unit. Everything else was working fine except the voice. However, I had installed an 8 gig sd card into my tomtom and put all the updates on the sd card because I was running low on the internal memory. Bythe way, only the voice instructions were not working..it would still play mp3's through the internal speaker, so I knew it must be a software problem. After several days with no voice instructions, I then proceeded to re-format the sd card and start all over, as the problem appeared to be a software issue. After re-formatting the sd card, I removed it and installed the back-up file from my tomtom before I did the first update. This time, I deleted a couple of the voices in the update package, so that I would have enough room to install the updates to the internal memory. "Bam" now everything is working perfectly again. I believe for me...the tomtom was having trouble communicating with the new application that I had previously installed on the sd card. I hope this may help someone.
