Return the printer for a printer that will work with Vista, it appears that Lexmark doesn't care if their printers work or not. My friend has the same problem with the Vista driver for the Lexmark X7170 not printing or communicating over the USB port at all. Work with XP, but not Vista
I have just purchase a new computer that use's Vista Windows, tried to install and it says can't find the driver? Called and was tolded that I would have to contact you and get a free download to correct the problem
Best to start from beginning, assuming your usb cable is ok. Remove printer from usb port, then uninstal printer driver. Re install printer driver and when prompted re connect printer(Use a different USB port, if have a spare one). Make sure windows finds new hardware, then identifies your printer(popup on right side of task bar), them watch for it telling you 'Your hardware is installed and ready to use'. Go to your printer folder in control panel and look on printers properties to see if it's on line. Come back if this does not cure it.
