Yes, as far as I can tell everything looks ok.

The keyboard board has the buttons,a few transistors & 1 diode if I remember right.

What about the audio board that is directly connected to it.

Well, a shorted diode on the keyboard circuit would be likely. When you change out the tactile switches, did you check for any shorts on any of the switches?

No sound for about 10 minutes after powering on. Once sound comes on, it is great.

. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance. The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on, if there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, and use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points. Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up; if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault. It can also be related to WEAK ELECTROLYTIC capacitors as the value can reduce in time.

Video blanks out, power light turns off, power supply shut down

There are bad capcitors in the control board, there are bad tact switches on the control board,or the CRTs are leaking fluid onto the printed circuit boards Good Luck

MY Toshiba 65H93 doesn't come on.When I press the power button nothing happen. But when I unplug the it from the AC outlet and plug it back into the AC Outlet I here a clicking sound, but the set still...

Same here! Just happened yesterday after we had a power outage in the neighborhood and when the power to the neighborhood was restored my 65H93 would not power on with the remote or the power button on the front of the TV. I get the same clicking sound when unplugging and or pushing the reset on the front of the TV. I also see a red light come on inside for about a half a second after hitting reset or unplug/replugging it in. I'm thinking it has something to do with the standby circuit not coming on due to some problem with the power supply/circuit board?

Have you found out anything yet? I'll let you know if I find out anything also.

Toshiba 50H71 big screen shuts off randomly. Red light blinks steadily. Sometimes will reset if unplugged, sometimes won't. Speakers make a popping sound when it shuts off even if no sound is hooked up...

I re-soldered the plugs on the board containing the convergence ic's and digital processing circuitry. The plugs feeding up to the smaller boards and the plugs connecting the two pc boards feeding power supplies to several things. It must have been broken causing the pico fuses on the power supply to blow once before. They were replaced and it continued to play until lately. It played overnight now. Playing the movie UP now! Sound is out when you turn tv on.

This model uses a single "Surround/Sound" circuit board. All of them go bad---probably why he was using a surround sound system for the audio.

Board part number is: X480242 and it is no longer available from Hitachi---the only way you can get it fixed is to remove the board in the set and have it sent out for rebuild--company is PTS electronics--they repair/rebuild all kinds of boards.

Considering the cost for repair/rebuild is almost 200 dollars it may be smarter just to do what the other person did--get an inexpensive surround sound and get the audio that way.

I worked on a lot of these sets with this problem--some brand new ones were bad this way--

With the back off of the set you will see on the far left wall (as you look from the back) the Surround board--it is not hard to remove (several plugs and a few screws).

This was in my view a design flaw--the board is full of surface mounted IC chips and several are mounted near the audio output IC---heat from the output chip over time causes all kinds of bad solder connections.

I saw one tech in a shop where I worked spend three hours trying to resolder one of these boards (special soldering for surface mounted parts etc) and the board still did not work right.

That board got sent out for rebuild and worked fine after. Lots of these have problems where when cold or hot sound problems come or go.

I just repaired my convergence issues. The set worked for a couple weeks and I unplugged. Yesterday i plugged it back in to use and now I have sound but no picture. I checked for voltage at the projecters...

You didn't repair your Convergence issues...TV's that shut off or have NO PICTURE have full blown convergence amps....

Get a new pair of Convergence amps and replace them...

No remote control response (toshiba 42h81)

Are you SURE the cables are right?? The cable for the remote sensor and the speakers are both 4 pin and can easily be swapped. The cable with the brown wire (speakers) will attach to the convergence/signal PCB on the far right edge, while the remote connector plugs into a connector closer to the center of this board.

Picture loss!

It sounds like cold solder joints on the vertical IC chip. Not a major deal. The entire board should be looked over for other joints becoming cold.

Toshiba 43A61 - No Picture, no sound

If your set all of a sudden won't come on, e.g., the screen is blank, but the LED on the under the screen next to the on/off switch keeps flashing, then there may be an internal fault on the set that needs to be reset.
To force the reset, try this:
  • Unplug the set and wait a few seconds
  • Replug and see if the video returns
Whenever the set senses an internal fault through its monitoring circuitry, it essentially shuts down the set. The flashing LED provides the indication that a fault has been detected. Removing power to the set resets the monitoring circuitry. When plugged back in, the circuitry again does a check of the system. If it finds that there truly is a problem, then the set is shut down and the LED will again flash. In this case, you need to call a service tech. Most of the time, however, the unplug/replug routine is enough to get the set up and running.
