LG dlp rear projection Tv model 56DC1D. When switching on the yellow light flashes for about 2 minutes then the red lamp light flashes twice before switching back to standby mode. The TV is approx 18 months old and not subject to extended warranty. I looked at the lamp and could not see anything wrong with it.

Lamp light blinking yellow means lamp door not installed.
Lamp light solid red and TV shut off is lamp error (did not light.)

Hi,
The lamp has already a resistance which is sense by the processor and made the unit a subsequent shutdown. It will produce an overload to the ballast board which is detected by the processor. Replace it with new one and your unit will back to normal again.

replace lamp

MY philips tv model number 55PL9773/17 WAS TURNING OFF THE SCREEN AND LEAVING THE AUDIO ON FOR ONE MINUTE. THEN THE YELLOW LIGHT STAYED ON. THEN THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. thEN I TURNED ON WITH THE REMOTE AND THE YELLOW LIGHT TURNED ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CHANGED TO THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE TV TURNED ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BETWEEN 10 AND 30 IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IT IS OFF WITH A BLINKING RED LIGHT PERMANENTLY ON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL. I REPLACE THE LAMP A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IT IS FINE.

If it is Sony DLP TV then pop sound was broken lamp in TV and lamp light is flashing. Needs to replace lamp in TV.
Let me know model number of TV to provide you more info like lamp replacement etc.

Most likely the lamp is dying. Try replacing the lamp before calling a repair tech. What does the Owners manual say about the blink lights?

Could be your Ballast Board that fires up lamp or Fan is bad that cools Lamp there is also a Fan mounted up under Light Engine if it stops running set will not come on. CK Fan Behind lamp first if it is OK then replace Ballast Go to E-Bay for Best Deal on that part .

If the second light is blinking to orange or red, that is usually the lamp indicator light on an LG DLP tv. That indicates your bulb needs replaced, or something surrounding the bulb has failed (like the cooling fan for the bulb for example) IF you have a spare bulb handy, I'd replace the bulb, keeping in mind if you touch any part of a new bulb with your bare hands, you just cut the life of the bulb by more then half.

I would suggest replacing the Lamp
