The HDR2002 has two microprocessors. The Microprocessor, 7001, on the SSB monitors the Keyboard and the Remote sensor during standby. This IC controls the Tuner, Video switching on the SSB, generates the consumer OSD. Pin 5 of 7001 monitors the Keyboard for a voltage change to generate a command. The Front Detect line on Pin 6 monitors the AV inputs on the Side Jack panel. If a problem develops, the Front Detect will go Low, preventing 7001 from receiving any commands. The Power Fail input on Pin 79 goes High if the set looses power while the set is On. Composite Video is fed to Pin 31 for Closed Caption decoding. Horizontal and Vertical sync on Pins 53 and 55 synchronize the OSD and Closed Captions display signals, which are output on Pins 46, 47, and 48. Fast Blanking for the OSD is output on Pin 52 There are three I2C busses on 7001. The Bus on Pins 78, 80, and 97 communicates with the MemoryIC 7012. This IC stores Customer setup information, Option codes, and Error codes. I2C busses, Sand F communicate with the Tuner on the PIP panel, and the ICs on the SSB. The S bus also controlsthe Tuner on the SSM and the Audio and Video switching on the SSM. Data lines on Pins 16 and 17communicate with the Microprocessor on the ACS module.

below is my general post about this TV, I'm not sure if any of its info will help but there are links to other info on this TV set... Good luck

BTW if you don’t plan on trying this and are going to throw out the TV, I still need a IC convergence board for a 51MP392H/17 TV I'm fixing, I'm willing to pay S/H and buy your IC board that’s not been tampered with. Edwinkraus@hotmail.com

SOURCE: Philips 50" flat screen - Closed captioning won't turn off

on my magnavox it was the verizon fios remote that enabled it by accident (it is tuned to control the tv) however it was a cc button represented by the * on the remote that i had to select to change the cc. this didn't make it go away so i just pressed buttons i used the "Aspect" button represented by the # it changed the ratio and the message went away. I usually only use the fios remote to turn the tv on and off but this must be some whacky override that comes from the fios remote.

How do i turn off the closed caption on my toshiba 51h84 tv? i tried setting via the remote and changed the CC option to OFF but i still see the closed caption wording...it is driving me crazy!! help!

What is the source of your TV signal: Cable? Dish Networks? DirectTV? Antenna?
Many times the Cable/Dish Networks/DirectTV controller also has an option for closed captioning. Please verify that a controller is not setup to deliver the CC data.
Also, try setting the TV CC using 'C1' or 'T1' and selecting 'Enter' to accept the change; then come back and set CC to 'Off' again to see if toggling on/off helps.

When someone is speaking the words also appear on screen. How do I stop this from happening?

The closed captioning is on. If the source is OTA, you can turn it off with the remote (a button marked CC, press it until it reads CC OFF) or the On-screen Display (probably Options or Tools). This also applies to some satellite or cable systems. With satellite and some cable boxes, the captions can also be controlled by the box. The remote for the box may have a CC button. Otherwise, you'll need to go through the menus to turn it off. (I know with Dish Network boxes, if the system is set to single (rather than dual) mode, both TVs will show the captions if it is enabled.

Similarly, DVDs, VCRs, and Blu-ray inputs may have their own captions and you might need to see the remote (or menus) for that device.

I hope this helps.

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.

Black block fills screen

Turn off the closed-captioning. It's set for "text" and the TV is blanking out the screen where the text would go if there was any. There's probably a single button on your remote to control captions, and it got pressed and put the set into text mode. Just press that button until the TV says "off" or use the TV's on-screen menu.

A black box sometimes appears on my tv screen. can you tell me if this is from having the closed caption butten on and why it happens?

Yes, if the closed caption mode is turned on in 'text mode' the set will display a black box even when no closed caption text is available. the normal closed caption mode is cc1. try turning closed caption to cc1 or off. tech7

Large Black Box Showing up in middle of screen.

When a black box appears on the screen it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. When the closed captions are set to CC1, it puts the words on the screen and when set to TEXT it puts a black box in the center of the screen. Go into the set's menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.
