Question about HTC G1
I also have the same problem

Does your phone have a data plan attached to it through T-mobile. I know there is one plan that contains 400 messages to it.
If you do check with G1 support at T-Mobile to find out if there is network issue or a software bug.
They can fix it on their end.

I found the same issue at times with my phone. I spoke with tech support & they advise taking out the battery at least 1ce a week for 2-3 minutes then replacing it. Apparently the G1 doesnt shut applications when you close them (actually it does, but it will always keep 6 or 7 of your most recently used open). I also found that if you go to settings & turn on airplane mode (which shuts down all wireless svcs) for a couple of minutes the problem usually resolves itself. Also you can check (in settings menu) "about phone" then "status" scroll down to "data access" make sure it's connected. You cannot do anything from there but it's entirely possible that you need to remove your battery or try airplane mode again. It works for me.. good luck.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service
