Question about Hyundai ImageQuest Q995 19" CRT Monitor

Ghosting image after 3 years of perfect operation

After a reboot and install of Linux, first time the monitor came up with graphics it was ghosting (i.e. repeated patterns next to text or images). Rebooted back to WinXP and it's ghosting again. Tried different computers on different locations, still ghosting. Tried different power cable, to no avail. I suspect the data cable but it's attached to the monitor and cannot replace myself.

SOURCE: Hyundai imagequest Q17 montior problem

ontherhodes5, Your monitor will probably need servicing for one or both power supplys in the unit. Yes, If you can get a new oem Switch-mode-power-supply/inverter board you might get it working. I suspect that it (smps) can't supply the voltages needed by the logic-interface board- therefore no digital data can be processed for display on the screen, which should be white-bright but now only gray. (dim) because the 1000v ac from inverter circuit is also missing 10to40% of it's output. Your best bet will be to find out if Hundai can do a repair/swapout. You send yours+$40 to $90 and they send you a Refurbished same model with new CCF tubes, Inverter board, smps board. It seems that sooner or later these lcd ccf (cold cathode fluorescent tube backlights) will need servicing. Don't feel bad about this monitor. There are about, (guess only) 2500 more of all makes and models with similar power supply problems out there. To see whats inside a lcd search YOUTUBE for vids of servicing or repair of lcd screens or similar.. also www ??? or or visit run by a Jestine Yong. Ignore the sales pitch and just look fyi. hope this was of some help. drop me a note if possible. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ BYE

I get ghost images. Is there a way to de-gaus an LCD monitor?

Sounds like it's either ghosting, or image persistance.

Ghosting on LCD monitors is usually caused by interference via the monitor cable. Try moving your monitor cable so that it doesn't pass near any other cables or electronic devices. If that helps, then position the cable away from the others perminantly or replace the cable with a "shielded" monitor cable.

Image persistance on an LCD can be caused by leaving it on with the same image for a very long time. The pixels don't exactly "burn-in" like on the old CRT monitors, but over time, they can develop a memory that causes them to change color slowly or incompletely. Prevention is best (turn the monitor off when not in use, or use a rotating screen saver.) But if it is already a problem, you do have a few options. You can turn it off for a long time, run a rotating screen saver for a long time, or display a solid white screen for a while. Another technique is to create a slideshow in the Windows screensaver with a solid white image and a solid black image (create them in MS Paint and save them where you can find them later.) Let it alternate between the white and black screens for a while and check to see improvements.

Good luck!

Acer moniter has streaking and ghosting of images

Sorry, it's a graphics fault. Looks like its time to get a new monitor. Few repair shops will do toch LCD monitors. There IS a possibility that your PC has a graphics problem. You could check it out by connecting your PC to another monitor,or by connecting your monitor to another PC, or a notebook/laptop.

Envision 19" Monitor is "ghosting" . It is about 3 years old. Just starting doing it. Nothing has really changed on my computer. Thanks for any help.

Try reseating the input cables. If that doesn't work then you could try a new input cable. Updating your video card drivers might also do the trick.

Westinghouse LCM-22W2 has "ghosting"

Usually, LCD monitor ghosting appears when the cable isn't tight, the cable is faulty, or low quality. The cable should be less than 8-10 feet long. Try using a different monitor cable (they're mostly interchangable) and see if the problem goes away. I'd put my money on the cable or a loose cable connection.
