Question about Epson Stylus Pro 9800 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Vertical print residue left about half inch past the longest line printed

On my Epson 9800 prints it started leaving a zig-zaggy line / smudge that looks like it's almost like a series of \\\ vertically just beyond each line (of type, let's say, printed) So in the print, there is a Vertical zigzag line about 3/8" to past the longest line of type in that paragraph. Cleaning doesn't get rid of it.

Inside the front cover, under where the head parks, you will find a vertical wiper. Clean it.

Power off. open front door. push down cutter (blue) and slide head to the left. To the right of the cleaning pad is the wiper. clean with rubbing alcohol on both sides.

Run a normal cleaning.

All set
NOTE: you do not need to put the head back in place. when you power on it will automaticly park itself

I'm printing out of photoshop to our epson 9800, and every print comes out with a line of tiny black dots on one side. how can i fix this?

Is it on left side? if yes. Please follow these:
1. Look at your printers left side. There is a sponge/fome on the left, that is put on a rectangle hole.
2. Pick up it.
3. Wash it with fresh water.
4. Set it again sothat it can't contain a single drop of water.
Then print with your printer.
I think you will get rid from your printer problem.
Thank you

Epson 78900, black smudges on right end of each line printed ...

There is some '' absorbing pad'' at some strategic places in your printer, when you print too much after a while those pad, and head cleaning pad gets dirty and trouble start. Its a bit of a job, removing all the clip to open the cabinet, also dont place those pad in the water they grew like tampax. Replace it with dry sponge... Does it make sense to you?

Will not print landscape.

Set your file up as a landscape, set your printer as portrait. Setup you width and height to be a half inch larger in each direction (unless you are doing borderless) and try with preview (so you dont waste time, ink & paper) see if this helps

Faint one inch wide line appears at the same time, every time.

We've seen this problem in our shop. The document is "timing out" and the gap is where it restarts. You have to set the print manager to wait to print until the document is finished processing. Any large print will do the same thing. Try "pausing" the printer on your computer, then execute the "print" command in Photoshop, then go back to the printer control panel and "un-pausing" the printer.

Problem Printing Sheet Paper with the Epson 9800

On the machines control panel set to sheet fed (pressing the left button will change from Sheet, roll and roll with cut). In the print settings select your paper profile. On the page setup choose sheet. In the pull down menu you should only have basic paper sizes, no custom size. choose 20x30 and try again.

let me know if this helps

Printing on the same line after a few pages printed

I first oiled the bar once more and while the printer was off, moved the head across the bar forcefully several times until it felt the ease to move. I then typed a document with numbers 1 to 10 each number typed two lines below the other and tried printing this document several times. This worked perfectly and the printer is now in order.

Printing Borderless at 42" width?

Set the roll size to 44 inch, set your left margin to 0 (in your preprint software), experiment. With margins set at 0, using Onyx Productionhouse 7.3, the 9800 will print approx 41.8 inch image on 42 inch roll 43.8 on 44, etc. This is considered borderless printing. No matter what size roll you tell the printer it has in it, it will print to about an eighth to a sixteenth of an inch short of the paper's actual edge (that's the left side of the roll paper coming out of the printer - the right side of the print). If you load, for example, a 36 inch roll, tell the printer its a 44 inch roll, and send a 40 inch wide print, with a left margin of 0 it will print around 35.8 inches, cutting off the image just before it would overprint and get ink on the machine (1/8 - 1/16inch before the edge of your 36 inch stock). It is possible that these tollerances will be different depending on what software you send your images with... hope this helps!

Epson 9800 Prints black dotted vertical line

This is a workaround - I too need a definitive answer. Symptom: black dotted vertical line 1/2 to 3/4" from leftmost image edge. I have begun adding single vertical line to my prints .25" from the left edge of the paper to force the "dots" off my print - this seems to have the desired affect, but it does not answer the cause or provide a true remedy (it will save many of your prints while we wait for complete solution). dkh
