Hi,
The situation can be caused ,because of the low download speed that you are getting on your internet. As the youtube is on a far off computer has to fetch it from there and then display it. Thus you see the buffering that happens . Try getting a higher speed on the high speed connection. Other simple fix is when you click on the video to see , click on the pause button for a minute and then click play. This would enable to bufffering to happen in the background

Thanks
Proton

You tube videos start and stop

The videos need some time to buffer/load.

This is indicated by the pale red line that is usually in front of the play bar which is the darker red bar.

Pause the video for around a minute for the video to buffer.
Then push play button.

You may need to set the detail down to 240p to increase the speed at which it loads.

If your playing a video from the Internet, then its playing faster than it can download (which is caused by a number of factors.. including Bandwidth, cpu, RAM graphics card etc.) so if you PAUSE the video and let the buffer fill up , it should work

When I try to download a video it constantly stops and loads and will not play all the way threw. It keeps pausing and playing on and off throughout the whole video. Why is it doing this?

I believe you are playing streaming video. if this the case, it would depend on your actual connection speed. when it pauses, it means, it is downloading portion of the video, then it resumes to play the downloaded part. Once it has been played, it will need to pause to download again. If your connection is not as fast as what is required by the streaming video, a trick would be to open the streaming video and when it tries to start, press the PAUSE button. Allow the progress bar to go till the end of the video (same like letting it download completely), then it will play fully when you hit PLAY.

Stuttering videos on you tube

It's because the video isn't downloading fast enough. When a video starts playing just hit the pause button ( || ) and do something else for 2 or 3 minutes or so. When you come back, you will see that the red line has advanced most if not all the way to the right. Then hit the play button ( > ) and your video will play without stuttering or freezing.

Stuttering videos on you tube

There could be a number of different problems;
1: Connection issues; is your internet service slow?
2: Processor; what's your processor's clock speed vs the video quality?
3: More RAM could never hurt to fix the problem. My advice to you is to pause the video and let it load entirely / buffer and all that.

When trying to watch a short film clip or a short video, my computer stops showing the film, because the buffer cannot keep up . It may stop 6 or 7 times on a short clip.If I pause it long enough to let it...

your pc sounds really good... unfortunately, it sounds like your internet speed leaves a lot to be desired... or you need to upgrade your video card... if you have another computer and it does the same thing then its your internet speed... if another computer works great then try right clicking on video and adjusting buffer size to infinity and if that doesn't work then you need to upgrade video card...

Whenever I try to play clips ( ie Youtube, etc) they keep stopping after a few seconds, they stop for maybe 20 seconds and they play for four seconds and stop and so on

This is generally a symptom of a download problem. Check your netowrk connections and verify that they are solid. The video is bufferred down to your local machine and displayed. The display is utilizing the downloaded data faster than you can load additional packets from the net. If you can not find the delay, pause the video for a little while. It will continue to load. That should allow the video to play to completion without delay. If not, then your graphics card may need an upgrade. If the card itself does not have sufficient on-board memory, the information needs to be refreshed from main computer memory which will slow things down.

Check those things first and update this with your results. There are other possibilities as well.

Thanks,
Dan

When I try to watch video tutorials or utube I get stalls

It is because the web browser has to pre load some of the video before playing it. If your internet isn't fast enough the video pauses while it loads the next section. Try pausing the video and waiting a minute or two before playing it.

I wonder if you're having an issue with just this specific video clip or all video clips? If it's just one video clip then I suspect htat it's a file corruption with this one clip. Have the person who sent it to you resend.
