Hi, I cant figure out how to wipe the hdd on this medio notebook I have. I dont have the manual and f2 key only takes me into the bios. Can anyone help? Thanks, stueey
I'm trying to remove all current software from the laptop and then reinstall it again. Here in the UK we call this a wipe and reload. You perhaps refer to this as reformatting. I'm just not able to find the command to let me do this. Can you help?
Thanks, stueey

On startup press F2 or F12 or whatever key your CMOS recommends to get to SETUP. Is your Hard Drive recognized? Is the HD in SetUp the same model as the HD you installed?
Verify in the computer CMOS, that the first boot option is your DVD/CDROM unit. To enter the CMOS turn on your computer and press the F2 or Delete key of your keyboard. The key change depending the computer manufacturer. Normally the computer show for some seconds in the monitor the correct key to enter to the CMOS or BIOS.
When you enter to the CMOS, look for the Boot Order section and adjust it.
Please come back to us with the exact error if you get any.
However, how you are performing recovery. Using recovery manager or recovery discs?
If you are using recovery manager, please perform hard drive self test and check with the result.
Hard drive self test steps:
1. Turn Off the notebook. 2. Turn ON the notebook and keep tapping F10 key 3. Once you are in BIOS, navigate to tools/diagnostics tab with the help of left and right arrow key. 4. You will find Primary HDD self test or HDD self test. 5. With the help of up and down arrow key select the respective test and hit enter. 6. Short test will take only 4-5 minutes. However, long test may take 40-60 minutes.
If the hard drive is fine, try to perform recovery using recovery discs....
If still the problem exists try with different discs.
Run check disk for hard drive errors. I recommend immediately backing up all your data that you can, wiping it, and reinstalling your programs. The rebooting problem smells like a bad hard drive. I just went through it with a Compaq at work.
i presume you have not formatted the drive yet. first make sure there is a restore partition on the drive.... after that go into the start menu and look for a menu item called restore or restore tools .... i'm not 100 % familiar with that computer but the basics of restoring the system are generic.
Shure 'nuff. Sounds like either the inverter or backlight. I would go for the inverter as that seems to be the more common item to fail, it usually is cheaper than the backlight, and easier to replace. If you need to directed to an online maint manual, let me know. Ron
this and my mouse have also stopped working, idk the problem but i fixed it once and whenever i wanted to turn it off i just put it into sleep and it worked fine when i started it up. i came to a situation where i had to restart the computer and it didnt work again and now i cant fix it.
I have found, depending on the update, that downloading them manually to your desktop, then installing them from there usally does the trick. Just write down the KB number of the update and go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx and download.
press the blue button botton left of the keyboard that says Fn (function)
at the same time press F1 this will enable the laptops wireless connection, this should be shown by the light 2nd from the right
