Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Comfort Edition Keyboard
I have a weird problem with my keyboard and now starting with my mouse.
The keyboard works fine for a while, but usually once a day or so, I am having to restart the computer because the typing is very, very slow. There is a delay between typing the letter and the letter showing up on the screen. Once I restart, it works OK. I had no problem with the mouse until last night when it started to miss clicks. I have to click 2-8 times before it finally connects.
I've tried pressing the buttons on the receiver and on the keyboard and mouse. I've tried the batteries. The mouse problem did not get better after restarting computer but the keyboard gets better.
Now, I bought this set, had this problem, returned it and bought the same one again, thinking I had just gotten a bad box. But same exact problem.
I'm worried it's the computer, but there are no other problems and this only started when I bought the new keyboard/mouse.
There are a number of things that may be causing your problem.
The first thing I would check would be the batteries, with these units having a wireless connection if the batteries become weak they will transmit a weaker signal and thus make it harder for the unit to read. Battery life is variable depending on how often you use your keyboard and mouse, and how far away from the transmitter the keyboard and mouse sit.
Also because the units are wireless there may be interference coming from other wireless devices in your household. Some possible guilty devices maybe cordless phones, Wifi adapters, and even some remotes.
Also Have you installed the intellitype and Intellipoint software for your Mouse & Keyboard. If so you can use it to check your battery life/ signal strenth and set you mouse sensitivity and type repeat rate.
On the bottom of your keyboard & Mouse and on the top of the wireless transponder there are reset buttons. Pushing the transponder 1st and then either or both the mouse and keyboards buttons should resysnc them without the need for a reboot.
