All inputs are effected. The menu and Display look pretty normal.

I assume this 15 pin VGA connector is inside the box?

  • Deacon J Nov 07, 2008

    Found it! Thanks!

I had to borrow a VGA cable and I tried hooking a PC up to the TV. The picture is bad that way, also. So I guess I need to replace the B board to fix this problem? Is it obvious which board is the B board? Where can I purchase the part?

Thanks for all the great help!

Does this happen on all inputs? Does it effect the On screen display and menu as well?

If the menu and OSD are OK, that probably eliminates the panel and TCON board. That still leaves the A3U board which does all the switching and intial processing of the video signal and the B board which does final video process and panel drive. The is one simple way of narrowing it down: hook up a PC to the 15 pin VGA connector (make sure the PC is set for a 60 hertz refresh rate). If you can see the problem when using the computer input, it is most likely the B board. The B board is the most likely cause of video distortion problems. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

The OSD comes from a different area---if on all inputs it is on a board that processes all signal in the set--tuner,AV etc

You might want to Google the model number with "parts" to come up with a list of the boards and prices if possible for them.

Picture is really snowy in the bedroom and we have another lg tv in the family room and it has a great picture on it they are both hooked up to the same dish network receiver but it just started like 4 or...

Hello, I hope this was resolved, but if not, here are some steps to run through. It sounds like the tv that is showing only snow is on an incorrect channel and/or input. The correct channel is different depending on what tv it is that is snowy. If TV2 is snowy where there is no receiver box, that tv needs to be on channel 60 or 73. If TV1 is snowy, where the receiver is, then you will want to make sure that the tv is on either channel 3 or 4, and it usually needs to be on an input as well. Anything ranging from video1 to HDMI3. Also, make sure that you have a blue, green, and yellow light on the front of the receiver box. If none of these steps help, unplug the receiver from the power source for about 10 seconds.
