I have about 1/4" inch white line through the fax
95% sure this is a thing called the corotron wire. Now, in working for Xerox on the helpdesk I could talk you through the fix but for this machine I don't know, so I'll leave it to you to decide if you want to tackle it.
1. Turn off the power and pull the plug.
2. Take out the drum again.
3. if the toner is in the way take it out too.
4. Ok, the corotron wire is in one of two places. It's either part of the drum or in the machine next to where the drum sat. The wire would have run the lenght of the drum sitting a few mm from the drum face. It's job is to deliver a high voltage electrical charge ( HENCE TURNING OFF THE POWER) to the drum which attracts the toner, and so forth..
The wire is about a hairs width and should be surrounded by a guard of plastic or metal..
Ok, if you can't find it then stop here and get a tech in to look at it..
If you can see it and get easy access to it then get a piece of gauze, tissue, cotton bud type of thing and gently run it along the lenght of the wire. If I'm right you should get a load of toner rubbed off..
If you could find the wire and it's broken then you need a tech to replace it.
4. OK, put it all back together again, let the machine warm up and try a copy of a good quality, clear original. Preferably something with a large body of txt that would show up the fault..
How's that work for ya?
