Checked all the solder joints and plugs to the convergence board and everything is checking out ok, I have never messed with any of the plugs so I have no reason to assume they are crossed in any way unless there is a tv ninja out there in the night lol.

Anything else that anyone can think of?

Sorry, didnt notice your previous comment on the fuse, I will check it as soon as i get home and get back to you.

  • rickkcid Jan 03, 2009

Tested the fuse, the number corresponded with a smalle rectangular black fuse if this is the right one, it tested fine. this seems to be something i might not get fixed until i have someone come out and do it, i just cant see spending 4-6 hundred on this thing lol. If anyone comes up with anything else let me know.

Make sure all the plugs that are going to the board dont have rings on the solder joints. it will be hard to see but you can tap on all the connectors and if it flickers then thats your problem. also most tvs have 3 plugs that goto the convergence board, should be near the chips. make sure they are plugged in the right spots, they are probably the same size and if you accidently switched 2 of them then your convergence will be off.

That TV will longer work with any Antenna by itself..the reason is a few years back the government mandated all TV signals will be HD. they sent out HD receiver boxes to allow old non HD TV's receive HD signals...I have a TV in my camper with the receiver Works great...Just see if you can locate one..there were thousands sent they are out there Try Ebay..good luck.

Toshiba HD ready TV ct 90158 makes high pitched sound

A high pitch sound can be a capacitor losing power it would sound a bit like a fire work. most have back up on the board but it put more pressure on them the more times you use the tv. would check them and replace. all of them can be 5 in a row in some models.

Sounds like your talking about an RCA HD rear projectio n if so the convergence defaulst will all have to be set and saved for each format. I can assist with info on how to do that if you send me a email to I can email the instructions they are too large to post here properly

I have a Toshiba 36" tv Model # 36AF61. Recently

Unlikely to be a fuse, likely to be some capacitors and possibly semiconductors need changing in the power supply or line output section of the board.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

I bought a toshiba 36HF12 36" tv

The TV does need a converter box to receive digital off-the-air broadcasts. It's an HD set, but that doesn't mean digital; no digital tuner was built in. You can find the manual here at Toshiba. Hope this helps, and thanks for using Fixya!

Toshiba 61H70 projection TV. Perfect picture but the sound suddently stopped working. Tried all on screen settings and still no sound. Set is 8 years old but relatively few hours. Is it worth repairing?...

it sounds like the soundboard went out on the tv..its probably worth fixing but you have to know what you are doing if you do it on your could be something more minor too but not sure
