I have the same problem. Panasonic troubleshooting says to unplug it and replug in a different outlet. I tried but it did not work.
But this advice may be the best.  http://stafford.typepad.com/the_next_america/2004/02/panasonic_plasm.html
It is saying that the TV may be protecting itself if there is an ungrounded plug. Test your plugs before you go on. Best thing is to get one of the simple three prong plugs with the lights on it that tells you the state of your electrical circuit

The flshing light could mean the power supply does not work correct. Can't deliver all voltages. But I can't get a service manual, so I can't tell you for sure.

The TV switches it self off

Sorry to here about your TV problems but it is almost imposable to help someone with technical problems if they don't list a product, model or P/N number.
Either-way, I would try moving the unit in an area where it has more breathing space if poss-able.
Also, is the unit in a air conditioned area or in a Damp basement or Florida room ?
I would also, go on line and see if Panasonic has any call backs on this unit.
This may be a feature which can be reset without to much trouble.
Next time please list the size & model #.

Panasonic Viera 42" TH-42PV30

Check the 2 main interconnection cables (24pin and 26pin) rear of PDP and Tuner box. Make sure they are firmly connected. (Loose connection of 24pin will cause no power on symptom.)
