Question about Microwave Ovens

Whirlpool microwave/oven combo- model #RM288PXS

Microwave turns on, sounds like it is working but does not heat. The digital readout on the control panel has been flickering on and off for the last 2 months. Could it be the circuit board in the control panel? Could it be the Magnetron, Transformer, or Capacitor? If so what is the test procedure for these items.

THANK YOU

That would be a problem with your control board. It probably needs a few capacitors and a relay replaced and minor circuit board repair.

We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week with a one-year guarantee.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Own Whirlpool microwave model MH7100XY, everything works on it, however it does not heat anything, heard a small pop and after that it does not warm or cook anything?????

The pop sound is an indicator the magnetron is gone that heats the food. It is cheaper to replace the microwave oven than have it repaired.

Sounds like you should get estimates and turn in on homeowners insurance. Power surges are very destructive and you have lost the control board at least and maybe some switches. Eric

Press and hold the DELAY START TIME button for +5 secs and a chime will sound. The option to toggle between SND HI and SND LO will come up, pressing Delay Start Time will change it between these options.
