The ink cartridges should notbe reset or reused, rregardless ofwwhat some refill places tell you they are made for a single use & refilled ccartridges frequently leak or clog the lines in the meter.
If you are referringto the waste ink ttan, that can be reset using the tech code 6946 then press refill ppostag, go thru the menu todiagnostics, printer, page down & rreplace waste tank & reset. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ACTUALLY REPLACE THE WASTE TANK.
Regarding your HP Officjet Pro 8600 printer and refilled HP 950/951 ink cartridges and the "low ink" messages. Depending on your ink refiller (or if you did it yourself?), a replacement chip may or may not have been installed with the recently refilled cartridge(s). Refer to picture on our support site to first determine which type of cartridge configuration you have, then refer to the applicable section to address the current cartridge error(s) or printer issues. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1999
NOTE: Costco USA's Ink Refill service now 'chips' all refilled ink cartridges which fully restores all functions to that of a regular HP (OEM) ink cartridge and customer experience. For USA ink refill store locations and details on ink refill pricing:
Refer to Section A if your refiller attached a new replacement chip (green in color) onto the cartridge. Refer to Section B if only the original HP chip is attached.
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested! HP original/genuine ink cartridges can be identified by the visible HP logo on the front label of the cartridge.
in order your fax to print you need to replace the cartridge when the cartridge is low it stops printing incomming faxes and keep it in mem untill you replace it with a new one unfortunly this cartridge can not be refilled and use it Hp is better on this
Yes, some have a chip on the cartrige unit, they cannot be reset.
Buy a new unit.
Sometimes using competitve ink in this machine can cause other problems.
The copies are light with background and with streaks, also sometimes the toner might be spilling below the developer housing or copy cartrige unit.
yes you can refill the #40 cartridge mfor the JX300 - but when you put it in you will get a message saying 'ink volume unknown' and it won't do anything and the yellow light on the machine will be blinking. - to solve this problem hold the stop button down till the count of ten and the machine will work normally except you will get no low ink warning

I had this problem and solved it = ) You turn off the fax, take the paper out, then open the cover just after you turn it back on. Leave it open for a minute and let the cartridge go back and forward close the cover and wait till it tell you to press stop and it should be back to normal. Hope this helps
