I have tried resetting it after calling support @ samsung they say its
in "DEMO" mode. I need to press arctic select and freezer button
together for 8 seconds. BUt nothing happens.
Then they wanted me to reset the unit by plugging and unpluugging unit after 9 mins. THat doesnt work too.
Also the fridge is making too much ice and it is puddled at the bottom and frozen over.
Just happened to me with a power flash- fixed it by pressing and holding the Freezer and Frig buttons together until the screen flashed and reset. Wheww! Though it was a gonner! Fine now:) Hope it works for you!
It turns out that it isn't flashing 98 and 88, but rather it makes the 98 because the one segment is blinking. This is segment 25. You can find info on what this and other blinking segments mean on page 25 of this document:

The same thing happened to me after a power outage. I pressed the top two buttons (Freezer and Fridge) and held them for about 8 seconds... ding, reset, working! Funny how this isn't mentioned in the user's manual.

The unit flashes error code 98 A8 but will not reset by either unplugging and re-plugging the unit or pressing the arctic select and freezer buttons together. A technician has recommended replacing the cpu.
