My answer assumes the wiring from the controller to the light sockets is all okay now and the sockets are fine.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Why does ge microwave blows fuse when door is opened?

Inspect the door switches and the wiring in the light bulb circuit. If the problem is a door switch, it will probably be visibly broken, or there will be burn marks on it. It's also possible that the door switch bracket is bent or broken and allows the terminals to short to the oven frame. Check the lamp socket - if it is cracked or burned, it should be replaced.

Also look for signs of arcing or burn marks on the controller board, especially near the relays (usually black plastic boxes about 1" x 1' x 3/4' mounted near the wire terminals or wire harness connector).

As a general note, it is rare for a fuse to fail by itself. If you find a blown fuse, look for a cause before replacing it. This may prevent wasting another fuse.

How to fix micowave, Bottom light and fan are on all the time, no response from keys after changing PCB board ?

The door switches are ok you say...this is weird...the light will not turn off..did you take pictures of the old circuit board, and put the wires back on exactly as they came off...I always take pictures as my memory and sight are not what they use to be...let me know further..and if the new board was updated, did it come with instructions on a new wireing setup..some change the way things are wired after a new updated board has be replaced....

It shows se and will not work

You have blown a fuse. Check inside the oven chamber and look for missing powder paint or signs of arcing, if so there is a paint to repair microwaves for this issue or else just dispose of the microwave. If the inside is good remove all the screws and remove the cover. Replace the fuse. If the magnetron was making louder noises prior then replace the magnetron. Since the fuse went the giant capacitor is likely bad. While the cabinet is open make sure to look for burned wires, check the continuity of thermal cutoffs, and check the main circuit-board for burned traces or components. The relays in most electronics are known for arcing (spot welding) and staying in the wrong position. Tap them hard with the back end of a screwdriver. During all of this use safe electrical practices by having the power cord unplugged. The capacitor could still have a high charge on it so be careful.

LG. Why are wires attached to KSD1 150/0 (MGT Thermostat) burned?

Hi,

If the wires were loose and cause them to burn under a load. Loose terminals cause high voltage and burn switches, relays and thermostats. I hope this helps you.

Microwave lights up doesn't turn on

The part of the oven called the "magnetron" (this part is what creates/generates the microwave energy that heats the food or liquid) is burned out, the cost to repair is more this part is more than the cost to replace with the cost of Microwaves so depressed by the stagnant economy.

I open the door to the refeg and it smells like wires are burning. I unplugged it. The lighting fixture is loose. The plastic around the light is defected.

A loose connecction of the bulb holder can heat up and burn the holder plastic material -- as a faulty connection will spark and heat up. The best option is to remove the holder , rewire and replace the unit.

You have a faulty keypad. You could probably special order this part from a local appliance parts supply store for 50-60$ or purchase a new microwave.

There function is prevent the oven to work whit the door open
some are normally close and some normally open when one of then don’t work properly causes a short and blow the main fuse check the all and replace the faulty one but be careful and don’t test the microwave
Whit the cover removed.

Note:
if you have a blown fuse buy several emplacement fuses because my take several trays to fix the problem and you will need more than one fuse.

Majic Chef cabinet mounted microwave oven model VM11B-8P

On the electronic control board, the circuit trace will open like a fuse if the light bulb power becomes shorted. If you or someone knows how to use a soldering iron, this can be repaired.
1. Remove the top grille. (Two screws on top)
2. Remove screw above button panel. Push up on panel to remove.
3. Remove circuit board from panel. Look on reverse side for a burned, open circuit trace.
4. Repair circuit trace everything should work again....
