remove bottom cover and check for one or more loose or missing ground screws on the bottom board (under the tripod mount plate). If it is missing, you can usually find it sticking to one of the motors

How do i convert a VIVITAR LENS THAT FITS A MIRANDA CAMERA SO THAT IT WILL FIT ONTO A NIKON CAMERA

Hi, The Miranda has a M44, otherwise known as the Miranda Bayonet, mount so you'll want a converter that goes to the Nikon mount. Unfortunately I can't find a way to connect them to each other due to the Miranda being an external mount type while the Nikon is an internally threaded mount type. The one rig I've seen a person made their own mount out of scrap metal so that's all I could really suggest. If you need more help let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I have a Quantaray QSX 9502TM tri-pod. I managed to lose the piece that screws into the bottom of the camera which allows the camera unit to be fastened to the tri-pod. I need to replace it. Can you help...

Good news! You can fix this very easily! The threads for tripod to camera mounting have been standardized for decades!

What you require is a 1/4-20 bolt of any type. You can go to any hardware store and find a huge selection.....many will even have a knurled knob on the end for hand-tightening. Places like Home Depot have large bins with just about every type bolt imaginable.

THE most IMPORTANT thing is choosing the correct length. Too long, and overtightening can damage your camera. Along with your bolt purchase, get a matching 1/4-20 nut to act as a backstop so you do not screw it in too far. You only need to have the bolt screw into your camera about 1/4" to secure it. You can also add a 1/4 inch flat washer to keep the nut off your camera's finish. Your bolt needs to be long enough to go through your tripod mount and then into your camera.

FYI- The "1/4-20" designation means that the bolt is 1/4 inch in diameter, with a thread "pitch" of 20 threads per inch.

Good Luck, and Thank You for using FixYa!

Having trouble mounting my Nikon D3000 to Zeikos 72" tripod. There is not manual included and I'm not sure how to get it to stay on the quick release plate, other than manually rotating the camera...

Quick release plates on all tripods are in two pieces. One stays on the tripod and provides a locking mechanism to secure the camera and the other stays connected to the tripod socket on the camera.

Lost mount for tripod can I get a new one?

Velbon QB-4W Quick-Release Platform is a nearly identical replacement for the plates that come with the Dynex tripod. You buy it from:

Unable to unscrew camera from mounting plate tripod

The mounting plate may have a small pin with a spring to fit certain kinds of cameras.
Don't try to twist the plate off the camera, that may damage the bottom of the camera.
Instead, the plate should have a slotted screw in the bottom that screws into the camera. Unscrew the bolt with a good screwdriver.

Hope that helps.

The Tripod mount is universal. But if you are unsure take the camera with you to the store.
