Hi Dishwashers are usually protected from overfilling by a float switch. This switch is located in the bottom of the unit. Here's how to check and replace it:

Step 1: Open the door and remove the bottom dish rack. Check to see if the float valve is stuck. If it is, clean away food debris around the float. With a screwdriver handle, lightly tap the top of the float to free it.

Step 2: If tapping doesn't work, remove the lower access panel and locate the bottom portion of the float and float switch. Test the float switch with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Unscrew one electrical lead wire to the switch terminal, and clip one probe of the VOM to each terminal. If the meter reads zero, the switch is not faulty. The trouble is probably in the timer. If the meter reads higher than zero, the switch is faulty.

Step 3: Replace the switch with a new one made to fit the dishwasher. The switch is held to a mounting bracket with screws; remove the screws to get the old switch out.

Step 4: Connect the new switch the same way the old one was connected.

The sprayer arms seldom cause any trouble, but sometimes the spray holes in the arms become encrusted with detergent or minerals. When this happens, the holes must be cleaned out so that the arms will work efficiently. Remove the lower arm by twisting off the cap that holds it to the motor shaft. Wash it thoroughly with water and mild household detergent. Sharpen a lead pencil and break off the lead point. Use the tapered end of the pencil to **** out the holes. A wood manicure stick can also be used.

Do not use toothpicks, matches, or metal objects for this job. Lightweight wooden sticks could break off in the ports, causing blockage; metal could scrape and enlarge the ports. After cleaning, place the sprayer arm back on the motor shaft and twist the cap back on to hold it in place. Follow the same procedure to clean the upper sprayer arm.

You need to replace the Dog ear, Agitator Clutch dog ear and Drive cam kit as the Top agitator not moving at all.

Also during fitting check the proper and tight connection for whole unit of Top arm and bottom arm.

Please rate the solution and have a Nice Day!@

    Sorry for the mistake done!

Its Wash Impeller, and Pump Impeller located at inside pump assembly, under pump housing cover.

Also check the Maccerator spring, which provide actual spin to the washer

You can find out this part after viewing a view of Dishwasher from this website:

It may be the these part alone if replaced do the work otherwise you need to replace the pump, as driving force is low.

There must be a solenoid that activates water pump, check if it is working.

Check also that the water lines are not frozen.

Give us the model number for more troubleshooting.

Thanks.

There must have been some confusion on the appliance model, Dog ear, and Agitator Clutch are parts for washing machines, dishwashers do not agitate fortunately, or they will crash all the stuff inside!

Back to the problem, if you can access the tank try keeping the float sensor down, and see if it fills normally. Naturally release the floating sensor before it overflows. If the problem was the floating sensor or the water level switch , then replace them.

The water comes into the tank from an inlet valve, check if the inlet valve is opening and closing regularly, or you may need to test and eventually replace it.

If all the water filling operation, are normal, but there is not enough pressure to reach and/or fill the tank, check first if the lines are frozen, that there is no hobstruction, and that the lines are not frozen. If they are not, then the pump does not have enough pressure and should be replaced.

Insert your model nuumber here, and you will get all diagrams and parts for your appliance.

Check first if water from main water supply at the back has enough pressure, and that the supply hose is not bent.
If it is not that, it can be also a faulty inlet valve (what you called fill valve). However, when the inlet valve is faulty , you have usually no water at all, or water does not stop filling.

As I told you before in your case it is probably a water heating probblem, and cycle is taking too long because water is not hot enough, not because there is not enough pressure.

If you do not believe me check also The cycle times are too long

My whirlpool dishwasher wont get water to it when I press start

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

No water?

If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Float switch
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.
