Question about Sony DVP-NS300 DVD Player
DVD player would not read disk. Itook the cover off and noticed the disc was not spinning at all. At first I could spin it with my finger and then it would take off , but now it won't spin at all.
Replace the llaser pickup unit. it will solve the problem. good luck

If a disc wont spin or start to spin is an indication that the lens is not focusing on the serface of the disc. Try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disc. If that does not work, clean the lens manually with a damped cotten swab with alcohol and see if that helps. If it does not, it needs an alighnment of the tracking / focus offsets or gains and your going to need special equipment to do that alighnment. it most likly will not be worth the expense. Good Luck Please dont forget to rate this thread.

I'm afraid you are dealing with a weakened Laser on the unit. The cost vs. benefit ratio of fixing this unit is not worthwhile.
You will find that there are newer versions of this device on the market less expensive than what you paid for the unit you have now.
