To reset your WiFi password, run the disc that came with the router, or look at the back of the router for instructions on accessing your router thru ethernet cable to reset your password. I suggest trying to run the disc first, because if you change something in the router setup that you shouldn't then you could end up with more problems. If you don't have the disc, then often router manufacturers will put info on the back of the router so that you can gain access. Look for an IP Address (Example: //192.168.2.254) If you find this, then go to a computer that is connected to the router thru the ethernet cable and open up your Internet Explorer, go to the address bar and type in the IP address as it appears on the back of the router. After this it may ask you for a Username and Password. If so, then it also will likely be on the back of the router. Once you gain access to the router's program be careful not to change anything other than the security password. Look for an area labeled Wireless Settings or something similar to that. Once you have reset or changed your wifi password, click Save or Apply if you see that on your screen, then logout of the router's program and close out your Internet Explorer.
Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility? Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.
As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-
access the netgear router configuration page (you need to do this hardwired)
1. check your IP address, click start -> all programs -> accessories -> command prompt 2. in the black box (command prompt) type in ipconfig and hit enter 3. look for the value of Default Gateway (that's your routers IP address) 4. open an internet browser and go to that address
for more detailed instructions, visit www.netgear.com and select your router model and choose supports & downloads
its very simple, You need to go to your Routers web based control interface, by typing the IP address (usually 192.168.0.1) on your browser. Once control panel appears click on the "Wireless" button located at the left side. After requested page appear you will see the "Security" option which you can selec. None, WEP, WPA or WPA-PSK. You can choose security type and define your own security code. If you need more details and explanations you can obtain the comprehensive user's guide here
if u have connected your router then u dont need the driver of router or chage the lan card if has the problem then your router its not detacted or remove & reinstall the lan card driver then try to connect
The best way in my opinion is to put your router behind a linux firewall, such as smoothwall. Any old computer with two network interface cards will work. A guide to install smoothwall can be found here: http://linux-noob.com/review/smoothwall/express/3/
Here is a webpage with most of the default logins and passwords for zyxel routers. Just type in the IP address (example http://192.168.1.1) in the address bar of your browser and use the default username and password for your particular model.
To secure a network, you need to log into the router. Insert the router IP address in address bar and then type in router username/password to access the Settings page of router. You'd be concerned with the Security or Wireless Security page.
