This issue is related to some program that was installed on your computer or some hardware issue.
On the black screen select SAFE MODE

Then check there the possible issues.
Uninstall the last program
Be sure the computer is not virus or spyware infected.

Then restart on normal mode.

If the problem still there, you will have to

insert your windows XP CD and run a recovery console to fix that.
During the installation select (R)

    • To repair a Windows XP installation using recovery console, press R.

As shown above Windows XP users only need to press R to enter the recovery console.

After getting to the Microsoft Windows recovery console you will need to select the Windows installation you wish to log onto. Therefore press 1 if you wish to edit the primary Windows installation.
After selecting the installation you will be prompted for the administrator password, enter the password exactly as you would in Windows. If you do not know the Windows administrator password you cannot enter the recovery mode.
Finally after you have entered the password you will be at a MS-DOS prompt similar to the MS-DOS shell window you can get through Windows. However, you will also have access to many additional commands not found in standard MS-DOS mode.

    • Typing in help at the prompt will give a complete listing of all commands available through the prompt.
    • Additional information about many of the commands available in MS-DOS and in the recovery mode can also be found on our MS-DOS page.

Windows 7 has become nonresponsive.

try using the mini window or hiren boot cd to access your window... then u can safely back up your data to other drive... after that, u can start the recovery your window the to factory state (if your window genuine), if your window not genuine, just delete the partition, create a new partition, format, and install a fresh window. after that u might want to check your system for viruses.... hope this will help. good luck.

I got a laptop from my sister and she cant remember the password to it. I have downloaded windows xp recovery but idont know how to operate it when i install the disc. what do i do from there

Turn the laptop off then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly. When you see the option of SAFE MODE select it. Let the computer boot all the way up to safe mode and when successful you will see the login user accounts for Administrator and the one which you sister forgot the password. Select the Administrator account and pray that she did not password protect it and forgot it also. If you successfully get into windows with the Administrator account do the following. Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the user accounts come up select your sister's user account then look for the option to Remove the Password. Remove the password then reboot your laptop.

Probably the easiest way to resolve this issue is by following the steps outlined below.

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the computer on and immediately press F8 repeatedly until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
3. use the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and press enter.
4. Window is should start with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?"
Click on that and "Click to open System Restore"
6. click on that and a new window comes up recommending restoring to a previous state.
7. Click ok and the operating system should restore your computer successfully and reboot into normal mode.

Internet explorer being constantly shut down and being knocked off line ,also I am unable to go to system restore successfully.

Hello

The system restore component in windows is mostly flawed and causes more problems than it fixes.

If you must restore to the point of purchase use the windows installation disk or system restore disk that came with your pc.
