We bought this printer a year ago (may be) from Amazon. Now we see the printer error 41 call Brother issue. I called Brother support center and they have not been helpful to me. They kept repeating that I produce my purchase bill in order to prove that I did not buy a refurbished model. I cannot provide the bill at this point?!! Whether refurbished or brand new , they should be helping me with this issue as its manufacturing defect.
Can someone help get a work order to take it to the technical center?

Re: Error 41 on Brother MFC
Dont bother checking anything. It needs a new print head and 4 new
cartridges to prime it with. Call Brother and raise hell! there have a
been a huge amount of these head failures! a new head costs around
$100.00 but if you press brother will replace it. Including catridges it should come to around 150$
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

This is the only reference I could find on error 41:
How can I clear the message Machine Error 41 from the display? (ME41)
Machine Error 41 indicates a mechanical malfunction of the Brother machine. Unplug the unit from the power source and then plug it back in.
If the error message continues to be displayed on the LCD, please call Brother Customer Service at 1-800-284-4329 for assistance. The Customer Service center is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM to 7:00PM, excluding holidays
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
This is a normally a printhead error. You can try cleaning it, or replacing it. I went down that route with an Epson . . .It turned out to be more of a hassle, and did not solve the root problem. If still under warranty I would call the manufacturer (Brother). If it's out of warranty, and you can not change the printhead, I would replace it.
Error 41 is common problem for all Brothet MFC printers. To fix it, you have to change the Print heads of your printer. If your printer is still under warranty, call Brother
1-800-276-7746(Voice) 1-949-859-2272 (Fax) and get yourself a new Printhead "free of cost".
Error 41 is Print head needs to be replaced, on this model it is not a big job, Heads can be purchased from Brother dealers, ring brother to locate if you wish to repair this machine rather than replace it.
Head sells for about $80 for the part from a brother dealer 1-800-284-4329 and it will need a new set of inks too, not really worth it just replace with new machine with ink and a warranty.
Very common issue, brother extended warranty for this fault for two years but yours would be past it by now, the s/n tells of build date, the first two digits of the LAST NINE of the serial number indicate build date, so a K6J702822 ending serial no. means it was built K6 = Nov 06.
I beleive that this is a result a lot of the time by the use of refills and remanufactured ink cartridges being used.
There is heaps of info on net regarding "error 41".
The printhead is defective. Call brother hotline. Because this is a very common error (due to malconstruction on the mfc 3820 ) they might replace it for free. And when asked: OF COURSE YOU HAD ALWAYS RUN THE UNIT BY ORIGINAL INK CARTRIDGES!!!! :-) (take the ink carts out before sending or giving it to a service dealer!)
