I can't dial out from my handsets

My handsets won't allow us to dial out from the phones. We hear the dial tone but whenever we try to dial the number, it won't connect. It will just go right back to the dial tone. It isn't our phone lines, because we have another phone in the room that works perfectly fine. We've only had this vtech phone for a couple months. I've already tried disconnecting the battery and checking to see if its still on the dial tone and not pulse. Please help us with this problem and explain to me what it is that I need to do to make it work!! Thanks

My problem is the same as the one described. Except it will occasionally allow us to dial out or receive a call but there is a tremendous amount of static. This has been the case for about a week. The other phones in my home have no problems. Also, it has stopped generating the caller id display. The battery is not indicating a low charge and it and the wire appear to be fine.

I have the exact same problem. Was working fine and on my fifth dial out, it dials the number but then it goes back to the original dial tone. Continuously doing this now. I tried calling and that works fine. Not a problem with the phone lines.

Get the dial tone but can't dial out.

Twice now, unplugging works but problem re-occurs. We have a wireless router could that be causing the problem?

when I try to use the phone I get a busy signal instead of a dial tone. When you try to call the vtech phone from another phone a message says that the person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time.

Monotary suggested the following and it seems to be working for now.
"Disconnect or unplug the power supply (the small black box that is plugged into the wall outlet) wait for 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Sometimes the power supply needs to reset itself."

Here is something to try:

Disconnect or unplug the power supply (the small black box that is plugged into the wall outlet) wait for 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Sometimes the power supply needs to reset itself. It worked for me.

Thanks,

monotary

Why has the phone reversed, dial tone works only when phone is hung up why?

If I understand you correctly, when you leave the handset in the cradle and press a line, you can hear the dial tone. But, if you lift the handset and then select a line you don't hear anything through the headset. If this is correct, I suspect the handset is damaged, the cord is damaged, or if you're lucky, the clips may not be plugged all the way in on both sides. If you have another phone that is the same, you can switch handsets to test this theory.

I purchased an extra handset to a AT&T uniden E2125 system. The phone instructs me to place new handset on main base to register handset. It has registered and now it reads, handset #5. When I try...

I've pulled up the user manual for your phone. Thank you for providing the phone make and model first, and the complete description of your issue!

The manual says the battery should be charged for 15 hours before first use.

You may be set to pulse dialing , even though the factory default is for tone dialing. If you push the 7 key, you would hear 7 pulses or clicks in succession. The dial tone will be gone once a pulse has been received. And you say there are clicks heard and no dial tone.

You can set Handset settings (Page 12 in the PDF copy) and customize how your phone works.

Hit MENU and use the up-arrow and down-arrow keys to scroll to the desired feature., this time called DIAL TYPE, then his SELECT. Looks like the sixth menu entry from the top after LANGUAGE.

It should read:
DIAL TYPE
TONE

If it says something else, perhaps PULSE, use those arrow keys again to change the Dial Type to Tone. Then use OFF to back out of the selection and again to clear the menu.

Attached is the link to the manual. Click the button on the screen to "Open as PDF" and you can open it in your PDF reader software or save it to your device for offline reading.

Swicth from tone to pulse

1) When the phone is in standby mode, press and hold the caller id/menu key.
2) Press the vol/ / key three times to select Dial.
3) Press the select key to toggle between Tone and Pulse.
4) Press the end key or return the handset to the base unit to complete the setting. The handset returns to standby mode.

This phone also has a feature that allows you to use Pulse dialing to make calls, but allows you to switch to tone dialing for automated systems (like “Please Press 1 for English) here are the steps for that:

Initially make your call with the pulse dialing mode. Once your call connects, press
the */tone key. Enter the desired number. These digits will be sent as tone dialing.
Once the call ends, the tone mode is canceled and pulse dialing mode resumes.
