EvoN200 still not working, see comment

When starting upp the computer I getr the following on the screen. Intel(R) Bot Agent Version 4.0.13 PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. Intel(R) Bot Agent Version 4.0.13 PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. what can be the reason and how can I fix it? Comment by thespis, posted on Oct 13, 2006 I did as recommended. checked the connection to the motherboard, took the haddrive out and put it back again. It came along for one time, but then never again. Again it says the same error. What can I do? I also downloaded the ultimate boot CD as recommended. I have a Sony DVD/CD unit connected with a PC Card ACR-A01. But the computer will not boot up. I have changed in the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM, but does not help. It is not reacting. Could the HD be damaged or is it the computer it self that is the trouble? Who is selling Harddrives for the EvoN200? Or if the computer it self is bad, where can I buy a new one? As I have no back up of the HD I need to find a way to restor the information on it.

Im new to this site, so sorry if this has been mentioned before, but the screen quotes you receive seem to indicate that it is trying to boot from a networking server, as if your laptop is a workstation with no operating system. If you are able in the bios may be a menu something similair to boot from LAN, this should be dissabled. Did you have an operating system already on or is there need for a system repair/re-install.

Intel(R) Boot Agent Version 4.1.06 Copyright (C) 1997-2002 , Intel Corporation PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Existing Intel Boot Agent. Insert System Disk in Drive. Press any key when...

It appears that the computer is attempting to boot to a network instead of your hard drive. One possible cause of this is that the hard drive is no longer bootable (may have been formatted, loosely seated or the boot sector/OS was damaged by a virus or failed update).

First thing to try is go to the system setup. Almost every system has its own unique System Setup program which you can access by pressing Delete while the computer is starting up (F1 or F2 for older Toshiba Satellite models). Once there, you'll have to look for settings that say something like "PXE/LAN Boot ROM" or "Boot to LAN" (once again, it may be different depending on the brand & model) and make sure it's set to "DISABLED".

You may also have to look for "Boot Configuration" or "Boot Sequence" and check to make sure that the hard drive (may be listed as "Hard Drive", "HDD" or its serial number) is selected as the first boot device. If the PXE or LAN Boot ROM is listed there, set it to DISABLED as well.

After that, just save the changes and exit and allow the computer to start up.

There's a good chance that it will boot normally again. Otherwise, it will exhibit the symptoms that will help figure out why iot couldn't boot to the hard drive in the first place.

HI there,
The "Error" texts saying:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Are completely normal. This simply states that there is no external cables plugged into the specialty inputs on your toshiba laptop.

The "operating system not found" is stating that your existing hard drive is either A) dead or B) been erased.

Try to re-install your operating system, if it finds no hard drive, you'll need a new one!

My ibm thinkpad t40 starts up but comes up with the message "initilazing intel(R) boot agent version 4.1.07 PXE 2.1 build 083 (wfm 2.0), rpl v2,74, what does this mean and how do i get windows 2 start

It means it's initializing its boot agent - most IBM have this feature. Press F1 on start up to go into the bios and then use the settings for start or boot up options to turn it off. If you simply wait - it will go away and windows will start normally anyhow when it is finished.

Evo N200

The BIOS, which handles the initial start up of your computer, cannot find your hard drive and thus cannot boot your operating system (ie, Windows). Open up your computer and confirm the power cable is firmly connected to the hard drive and that the cable that connects the hard drive to the motherboard is firmly secure. If both of these check out, then try downloading this bootable CD on another computer. This CD, among other things, has a few hard drive utilities that will help further diagnose the problem. Finally, if the utilities on this CD are unable to see the hard drive itself, then is may need to be replaced. Try testing with another hard drive or another cable to connect it to the motherboard.
