I found this:
EIGHT Blinks---Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and
blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.

You can also try this:

You can also bring up these fault codes ON-SCREEN to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode.

To see the diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:

Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power.

This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.

The light should blink x times, pause and repeat. Report that number here. The blink code is an internal indication of the problem circuit.

This is a convergence problem and is either bad connections on the
convergence ICs or defective ICs. Try resoldering the pins on the ICs
first. If that fails to correct the problem, replace the ICs. These
are large black ICs attached to a heatsink and should be marked STKxxx.

Something as simple as bad connections that change internal resistance
can cause odd symptoms like this too. I don't have any specific
causes. Can you solder? Try resoldering any connections on the boards
that appear to be grainy or have rings. This problem sounds like a
high voltage change somewhere along the line. It can't be with the
flyback as that would show up on all tubes.

This is a high voltage error and it probably has to do with the blue

  • jason Nov 06, 2008

the reason for them all going out is the t8005 , the protect circuit is shuting the tv down to avoid further dammage

  • jason Nov 06, 2008

you can try but if it goes then you need to replace it again and the t8005

8 blinks means problem in High Voltage and T8005 can also be a cause as it is an important part of High Voltage area.

Do you see any arcing in Blue CRT?

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Nov 06, 2008

R7324 is 1K and 1/2 watt resistor at G1 (pin4) of blue CRT.
Let me know do you see my comments to help you out?

I don't think R7324 replacement will fix blue CRT as this question is still there why R7324 was blown?
You just can see what is happening with Blue CRT after replacing R7324.
I'm afraid Blue CRT might be defective.

  • Shahid Electronics
    Shahid Electronics Nov 06, 2008

Code would be different and it should be 5 times (white balance failure) but as I said before, seems Blue CRT or CRT Connector is defective.
Check circuit picture here.let me provide you connector part number.

    Thanks for rating my solution.
CRT Connector details are as under...

    CN7309 1-251-182-11 SOCKET, CRT

It is available in Parts Store and price is approx $5

    Good Luck.

Ok, here are details of all resistors:
    R7324= 1k 1/2w
    R7326= 220 ohms 1/2w
    R7301= 10 ohms 1/4w
Need further help, let me know please :)

    dear,
High-voltage error" and the probable cause location listed is"T8005 is faulty (D board)". T8005 is the fly-back transformer. Probably your best bet is to replace the D board.

    regards,

  • SALMAN NASEER Nov 06, 2008

it could be possible that in Dboard the blue tube is not directly infected..with its components

  • SALMAN NASEER Nov 06, 2008

by the way, check as my fellow "welcomejee" suggested..

    regards,

Replace all the transistors and it should work only after that.

or it will blow the unreplaced transistors.

if the blue tube is not coming ON completely then it has to be replaced.but once check out if the tube is connected properly with its wires if there is any short it may come even if you replace it with new.check out.

if every thing seems to be proper on the board.then rerplace the tube.also check the allignment of the tube which u r going to change.

I have a 2002 Sony KP-57WS500 that occasionly (randomly?) flashes red lines and then goes to a full screen red while giving an electrical "cracking" sound before shutting down. Once shut down,...

Seems like your RED CRT is shorting out or failing. Do you notice any other colors besides just red having problems? The blinking of the red light eight times is a High voltage error. It could be your D board but I'm thinking it is more likely the red crt is probably shorting out.

51ws500 sony shuts down and standby light flashes 8 times

Eight blinks points to an audio output problem. The unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 (flyback transformer), or the associative components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.

Hope that helps.

Re-insering the flyback wire is usually very easy. Push in and give a slght turn and check to see if grabbed. It sounds as if there is more issues than flyback wire. TV should turn on without one crt connected

The flyback transformer is defective when the LED flashes 8 times. The FBT is located on the main board(D board).
Location of the part is T8005 and the Sony part number is 1-453-285-41
This part is available from this website.
This type of repair might not be a DIY due to the danger of working with devices that generate high voltages.
