Question about Maytag Neptune MLE2000A Front Load Stacked Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

Washer just stopped

During a wash cycle, the wash machine made a few loud clanking sounds, came to a halt, and turned off. As I was removing the soapy clothes, I noticed a burning smell. The breaker was not tripped so the machine still has power and the dryer works fine. The drum is still somewhat filled with dirty, soapy water and the machine will not turn on to drain. Any ideas? Is this something I might be able to fix myself?

I would check the drainpump ans see if there is something jammed inside like a coin or screw, nail etc before doing anything else .Unplug the machine first though . A burning smell will occur with a load of water trying to spin .

Whirlpool washing machine make loud noise after spin cycle quits. Noise continues until cycle winds down. Sounds like a machine gun being fired

Hello, have to tell you that most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping noise during the spin, the load of cloth may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the cloths, then restart the machine. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Thanks

Loud clanking noise during spin cycle. Will not

If it is a front loader, then remove the rear panel, remove the belt, and soin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed.
This is a major repair.

Washer won't agitate or spin out.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.

Turned out to be a loose electrical connector near the motor.  Plug was re-connected and secured with a zip tie to prevent another disconnect.

Washing machine has low flow and stops in middle of cycle

For low water volume - or "Trickling" effect...

1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses.
2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused)
3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside where you just removed the hose.
4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes.
5. Replace the inlet screens.
6. Re-fit the hose to the machine.
7. Turn on water supply valves.
8. re-try.

Clanking, sparking sound coming from washer

Need to know a little more info. Need to know if this noise starts when you first turn it on (during the fill up cycle), once the actual washer starts (wash cycle) or when it goes into spin cycle.
