I need a system recovery because of many viruses and deleted files, but I do not have the recovery cd anymore. I tried holding down "alt" and pressing "f10" eight times, but that didn't bring me to a system recovery option.
System Recovery deletes all your documents, music and pictures and sets your system back to the point when you first purchased it.
Have you tried System Restore that will preserve your data. Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and restore to a date and time before you started having problems. You may have to get into Safe Mode to start System Restore. To get to Safe Mode turn off the machine then turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select Safe Mode and let it boot up. Then try system restore.

You can download the hal.dll file from this site www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal most of the windows missing dll files you can find here.
Also download windows nt or xp boot image from the net and create floppies or cd rom from that to boot up.
IF YOUR HARD DISK IS AN FAT32 PARTITION ITS VERY EASY AND YOU CAN USE WIN98 BOOTDISK WHIHC IS SINGLE DISK AND CAN ACCESS THE WINDOWS SYSTEM FOLDER AND COPY THIS HALL.DLL FILE.
AFTER GETTING PROMPT GO TO
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
COPY THE HALL.DLL
problem solved

Hello,
I'm sorry to say this but your hard drive may be faulty and need a replacement. Your files might still be retrievable but you will need to take it to a repair center to get it retrieved or plug it as an external hard drive and try to retrieve data yourself. But nevertheless, it seems like your hard drive gave in and will need to be replaced with a new one..
Thanks,
Lolita

You can fix this virus without recovering.
Log in normally. Go to run, type in msconfig and go to the startup tab. Uncheck everything and reboot your pc. Once there try your internet. If it's not working go to Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings, and uncheck anything in your proxy settings. Close IE and reopen. You should be able to connect. Then download and run Malwarebytes, and then run Bitdefender Online scanner.
The only other thing that may be trouble is that there may be a rootkit that neither scanner will detect. You can run Combofix, but this program isn't for the average user. Follow instructions carefully when using Combofix.

Use a memory device such as a rewritable DVD or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings.
Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard and mouse. Bring up the "Start" menu and choose "All Programs."
Navigate to "eMachines" and then "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the tab labeled "Restore," which is located at the top of the window.
Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and then click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default."
Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process.
Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appears on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.
