Monitor comes on for 2 seconds and then goes all black. What type of problem do I have?
May be you have set "Changed" the setting of your monitor power. If it's set then try this step and see whether it's helpful to you or not. In Windows 7, Vista, or XP, to change the power management settings. To change power management settings in Windows 7, Vista, or XP:

For Windows 7 and Vista
From the Start menu, select Control Panel. Then choose Power Options.
From the list in the left panel, click Choose when to turn off the display or Change when the computer sleeps.
Set your options. For each action, "Turn off the display:" and "Put the computer to sleep:", you can select times ranging from 1 minute to Never.
Click Save changes.
From the Start menu, select Settings, and then Control Panel.
Double-click Power Management or Power Options.
From the "Turn off monitor:" drop-down menu, select a time from After 1 min to Never.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
