Well, if the adjustment buttons don't work, then probably the control unit in the monitor is broken, or a key is stuck. If the control unit needs servicing, I doubt if it's feasible to have it repaired, given the fact that it's an old monitor and new or used nice slim LCD monitors can be purchased cheaply nowadays.
you can download it from a website called driver guide. I have downloaded it and confirmed no viruses and to be the proper driver.

1. Simply go to your desktop and right-click on some free space. A grey menu box will appear. Shown below.
2. Left-click on Properties near the bof the menu. A large Display Propertiebox will pop up. Shown below.
Use the little slide bar near the lower left of the Display Properties box to adjust desired screen resolution and then click Okay. Then Windows will confirm that you do want to change your screen resolution. If you press ok it will change immediately. You will have to confirm again and then your done.
I have a similar problem. Switching the screen off (front panel button) and on again after waiting a few seconds fixes it. This is a recent problem, so I'm expecting it to get worse and worse until one day!!!!!!
the adjustment box for colour, brightness and contrast stays fixed on the screen. i tried pressing the exit button.... after a few times it disappears only to reappear within a few minutes. also the auto adjustment option, for which we are supposed to manually press the i button, keeps auto adjusting the screen whenever it feels like it. the box appears right in middle of the screen and is a real nuisance as it blocks out the main portion.
Your monitor has been enabled as an extended monitor, not a clone.
Easy way to see is open a window, grab it and drag it to the other monitor (drag it right, not left). Just remember even if you have the external monitor on your left side, it is really on the right side according to the computer.
Check the display properties for a clone option if you want both to show the same thing.
You do NOT need a driver. Your monitor is broken. The high voltage power supply that provides power to light the CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lights is broken. The most common problem is that the 470uF 25V capacitors on the power supply circuit board are bad. Bad Caps have a swollen and sometimes leaky top. There are 6 capacitors that cost about 50 cents apiece from www.partsexpress.com . Buy high temperature replacement capacitors rated at 105C. If you can't de-solder and resolder have some 14 year old kid do it for you.
