Question about Gateway GM5084 PC Desktop

Internet disabled i have a gateway pc about 2 years old. i use clearwire internet service. when i boot up or have been online for 24 hours, i get booted form inernet, i have to play with modem for a few minutes in order to get it to go online. is there an easy fix for this? this didnt happen when i use local broadband internet service

Sounds like the Clearwire modem has issues. Can you contact clearwire or go to there website and see they have FAQ's?

I have a gateway nv79u and it wont stay on for more than 30 mins. It keeps shutting off with error code 41 kernal-power.


Hi Michael,

Kernel Power - Error Code 41 often times caused by conflicting drivers. If you are trying to play a game or watching videos then the computer suddenly turns off, you must first check the following:

1. Open Device Manager (click Start > type Device Manager) and go to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and see you have two audio drivers installed and disable one at a time and see if it fixes the issue.

2. Boot into Safe mode (press F8 continuously upon boot up) and see if the computer still shuts down there. (If it doesn't try disabling start-up items using this guide

3. If you're pop-up error messages like "System services cannot be started" upon boot-up, you're operating system is corrupted and must be restored to default settings. (you need to press F11 upon boot up - remember to backup your important files)

3. If Step 2 above is true, check if the computer is overheating. If it does, the computer needs to be serviced. Contact gateway support at 1-800-846-2000.

I have a gateway gt5622 to will not boot beyond the screen that says starting windows. I have tried updating the bios, changing the power supply, changing the memory, disabling usb in bios, and nothing...


Hi,


If your system is stuck on the Windows Start Screen Screen you can try to boot using Safe Mode by restarting the computer and tapping F8 while it is booting. When it successfully load the Operating system you can disable some startups on the machine. Click on Start then click on RUN, type MSCONFIG on the dialog box located on the lower left of your screen. Then Click on the SERVICES tab. Put a tick on Hide All Microsoft Services then click on Disable All button. Disabling some startup software may fixed the problem. Restart the computer see if it will works. If not then you need to Reinstall the Operating System to your machine.

It should work with the Vonage hooked into the WAN port of the modem, then the router plugged into the router. I had same issue with a Belkin router. Vonage Customer Service will help you at all hours: 1-VONAGE-HELP (1-866-243-4357)

If display issue: connect an external monitor to see if any change.

Could be spyware - boot in Safe Mode (F8) - download, install and run SpyBot (spybot.com).
