After turning camera on it flashes red displays a stop signal, and says zoom error, the lens does not come out at all. Batteries are brand new. Camera had only been used twice before this problem.

It seems the mechanism has been damaged or is faulty is someway.
The devices are very fragile and the slightest knock can send th askew.
As it appears to be new - lets assume it is a faulty camera and return it to vendor

Why is it that, when I turn on my vg 170 the lense pops out, then returns but wont do nothing. Thanks

Servo motor encounters error when extending so returns lens to "safe" position. The Camera has no user serviceable parts. Decision time! How much do you like the camera? Likely the maker will not service it and a 1 hour repair session is a hundred bucks or more.

The back of the camera is Blinking E. What does that mean?

A flashing E is usually an error signal. Have you recently dropped the camera? Is the lens stuck and unable to extend?

My s800 camera wont turn on or it does but the zoom/lens is stuck and wont come out-it then has 3 beeps and turns off

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

I have an Olympus SP 320 camera, zoom error comes up and it shuts off

I just pulled my 320 out after not using it for 4 months and the lens extended and zoom error began flashing on the screen. After reading a few other post on the net about how much it cost I decided the camera was a goner. For good measure I banged it on my mouse pad a couple times and the lens suddenly retracted and it is now working fine. Doubt it will work very often but might be worth a try. Make sure you hit it on something soft to prevent other damage.

Casio EXILIM camera lens will not extend fully!!!

Try plugging the PC interface cord into the external connector. No need to hook it up to your computer, just plug it in and out a few times. Then try to power up the camera.
Good luck.
