Question about Samsung Syncmaster 940BW LCD Monitor

Open Question

How to open the Samsung Sycnmaster 940BW housing?

One of the mounting brackets has broken off inside and I am afraid it may short out something if I apply power to it now. Do you know you to open the housing? There are no obvious screws to remove. Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

SOURCE: How do I open my Samsung 2233sw LCD monitor?

I just installed a lot of this model at the office, it should be under warranty. If it failed and you try to get it fix under warranty, they may be able to tell that it has been tampered with.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/

It is best to take the monitor to a TV, Monitor, or Electronics Repair Shop when problems like this occur. If the image is seen on the screen, but is very dark, then the backlights for the screen have gone bad and the screen must be replaced. If there is no image on the screen, the problem could be with the display control board.

Hello
damnor01 here to the rescue!

Welcome to Fixya.

Since you pushed the Auto button it is possible that the monitor has changed the input type to a type other than that you are currently using.

For instance it may have chosen to accept VGA input however you have the DVI or HDMI connected.
To fix this you will have to push the auto button again, and possibly again to get it to find your current input channel.
You may need to turn your computer off and then back on again.

You may need to connect your monitor using a different connector, example via VGA, DVI or HDMI. It all depends on the connection you have at present.
Blue Connector is VGA.
White connector is DVI.
HDMI is very narrow conector usually black.

Please be sure to rate this session!
Thanking you
