Question about Compaq tc1000 Tablet PC
I wonder if anyone out there would have some insights on the issue I
have. This unit does not seem to turn on at all. When I insert the
power supply the power light does not even light on the unit. I am a
computer technician and this is stumping me. I did some research online
and found that the correct power supply is 18.5V/DC, which I have and
on bottom of the unit it said Input 5.0V DC 50maA.
Could the internal inverter be bad? Is there something I am missing?
I do not know if this will help your situation any or not. I purchased a used TC1000 for $35 (I just couldn't help myself, despite what the owner state was happening).
It would power on, but no Compaq POST.
Toshiba taught me a simple trick when I was having issues with my X205 gaming laptop. Basically, remove all power sources (including battery). Hold the power slider to the on position for 25 - 30 seconds. Then power back up. You have to discharge whatever electricity is in the board/ps otherwise I believe the MoBo senses additional charge/not enough charge and refuses to boot.
I did this and have had 25 successful boots in a row.
