Question about Compaq tc1000 Tablet PC

HP TC1100 No power

I wonder if anyone out there would have some insights on the issue I have. This unit does not seem to turn on at all. When I insert the power supply the power light does not even light on the unit. I am a computer technician and this is stumping me. I did some research online and found that the correct power supply is 18.5V/DC, which I have and on bottom of the unit it said Input 5.0V DC 50maA.

Could the internal inverter be bad? Is there something I am missing?

Thanks,

I have the exact same problem as above. I have tried starting it up without the battery, but no luck. The charge light is on when the powersupply is plugged in

I have the exact same problem as above. I have tried booting without the battery in, but it does not work. The light is on when the power supply is plugged in, but nothing seems to be working, no hum or anything.

I have the exact same problem. The light that shows the power supply is plugged in lights up, but nothing else happens. I have tried turning it on with the battery removed and only the power supply plugged in, but no luck.

Did you ever resolve this issue? My son cracked the bezel that protects the LCD on my TC1100. I found a replacement bezel and following the HP Maintenance manual I took the Table almost completely apart. I replaced the bezel with the only real issue being that the Inverter was glued / cemented to the side of the original bezel. I pried it off and though I was careful it is afterall an electrical board. Not sure if I cracked it or something. Everything else went back together fine .. but after inserting the battery I noticed that 3 of the battery indicator lights came on and then they all went blank. afterwards, the TC1100 does not even boot .. shows no signs of life even if I use AC power only.

Gentlemen,

I do not know if this will help your situation any or not. I purchased a used TC1000 for $35 (I just couldn't help myself, despite what the owner state was happening).

It would power on, but no Compaq POST.

Toshiba taught me a simple trick when I was having issues with my X205 gaming laptop. Basically, remove all power sources (including battery). Hold the power slider to the on position for 25 - 30 seconds. Then power back up. You have to discharge whatever electricity is in the board/ps otherwise I believe the MoBo senses additional charge/not enough charge and refuses to boot.

I did this and have had 25 successful boots in a row.

TC1100 onscreen keyboard.

Use a USB keyboard and do a system restore.
Use a USB keyboard to access HP.com and search for a download there.
Use a USB keyboard to backup, reformat, reinstall factory image.Takes longer, but probably best overall fix, HDD may have a few bad sectors and format will fix or avoid them. May be a great time for a 7200 RPM drive and some more RAM! 2Gb RAM and a high speed drive will breathe a bunch of life into a great tablet like the tc1100.

Hp tc1100 memory location

If you flip your laptop over, make sure all power is turned off and the battery is out, Now look at underside of machine there should be one or two screws in a square cover, Just remove the screw or screws and take cover off, Now the modules are held in by two white or black tabs on either sides of the sticks, Just push the two lock down clips and the module should pop up, Pull straight back out and remove. Now when u are replacing with the new ones make sure they are the same speed. and better yet make sure its a matched set, and put back in the same way as they came out in reverse order. Make sure when you push them back into there slots that they are snugg and firm into place, Put battery back in hook power up and reboot you Hp. It should tell you there has been a memory change and ask you to push enter or any key to except and you are on your way to more memory, Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays To You And Your Family
