It sounds like the LAN port is bad. If it is an onboard port, just add an ethernet NIC card into an available PCI slot and disable the onboard port. That will solve your problem.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

You won't get internet connection that way because there is no connection between the first parkervision and the 2nd one.
Best way is use only one parkervision router. Connect WAN port to modem for internet, 1st lan port connect to your pc and 2nd lan port connect to 2nd pc in other room. 2nd way is, use only one parkervision. Connect WAN port to modem for internet, 1st lan port connect to your pc, setup wireless SSID and connect your 2nd pc to this router for internet wirelessly. Assuming your 2nd pc has wireless capability.

How to configure 4 Lan + 1 Printer +internet connections

Hello,

If all your connections are wired, you can use one of the three following solutions.

1. Purchase a router with more then 4 LAN ports on it.
2. If the printer or any of the computers have a wireless network card, then purchase a wireless router and simply connect 4 LAN cables and 1 WLAN.
3. Purchase a hub. Connect 3 computers to the first 3 LAN ports on the router; connect the hub to the fourth LAN port and then connect the last computer and the printer to the hub. In essence both your computer and the printer will share the same IP address (the IP given to the hub) and they should work.

In any of these situations, connect the internet connection to the WAN port of your router.

Thanks,

Pat

I can not get connected. It says the local network is connected but the internet is not connected

Router having trouble connecting.

The first and easy fix is to move the cable from the modem from the wan port of the router to the lan port of the router. This will not provide you any hardware firewall protection at all, but the second step below will.

The second fix is harder but I will try explain how to do it.

1. Plug a cable from the computer into the router lan port of the router.
2. Click on the start run, and type cmd.
3. In the Dos window type in "Ipconfig" without quotes.
4. Then type the gateway ip address in Internet Explorer URL.
6. You will need your router's username and password information for this part. You can do a Internet search for your default username and password if you didn't set one up. Each version is different, so that is why you need to do a search on your model and version.
7. In the router's setup tab under the lan tab that is how you can change the lan ip address, so you can plug the ethernet into the Wan port to have hardware firewall.

Connect the cable from the LAN port on the DSL modem to any of the 4- LAN ports on the Linksys Swicth (not the port Labelled Internet), then from any of the remaining 4 ports then connect your computer. Also try using a cross-over cable to modem from the DSL LAN port to the Linksys.

The 2 wire Home Portal 100w is a Modem/Router combination with wireless. But it has only one LAN port. So I understand that you are trying to use a DAX router for extending the number or ports. The reason they may not communicate if 2wire LAN is connected to DAX WAN is both may have same IP address. If the router has similar IP on WAN and LAN, it will not communicate. For that changing DAX router's LAN IP will be a solution or you can do LAN to LAN cascading. Connect 2Wire LAN to DAX LAN and dont use the WAN port. This way you dont have to change anything in the configuration

Make sure your firewall is not blocking your ability to go to websites. I saw this the other day, somehow the users firewall was set to block all internet traffic out of the computer.

Wireless connection

Chk if you are able to ping the router ( Start - Run - cmd - ping ip address of the router  ) . IF you can do this when you are wireless, you will know if your card is communicating with the router.
Alternatively, carry your laptop to any hot spot to chk if its the wireless card in your laptop or your router thats causing the trouble. Atleast you can isolate teh issue with this.
