Question about InFocus LP70+ Multimedia Projector

LP70+ image problems

When I turn on the projector, there is some color variations on the left hand side of the screen. It is really noticeable when there is a white document being displayed. It appears to be blue-ish vertical strips, that are really annonying to look at. They only appear on the left, and a little bit on the bottom edge of the screen.

The colorwheel is dirty and needs cleaning (or replacing), or the light tunnel is starting to collapse (and needs replacing).

Hi, It sounds like your lcd chip has gone bad this is how your technology works ;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 lcd chips that create the image and colors by blending together. When they start to go bad you will get color distortion, color halo, spots even lines. You will need to replace the light engine.I suggested to contact you manufacturer to see if they can fix it at no charge since this is a common problem and even where in a law suit because of that problem.

LP70 infocus projector is casting a shadow on the left side of the screen. It seems as if something is blocking the lens from inside? Could this be a bulb issue?

the light tunnel is collapsing and need to be replaced. you could get the part from an infocus service center and do it yourself or send it in to one and have them repair it. speaking from experience, it's a quite involved repair. you have to basically take the whole thing apart to get to it, and make adjustment to it really close to the power supply while it's on. kinda risky. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

On the left side of the screen the red color is bleeding off the other colors and causing the picture to be blurred. It is not across the entire screen. Just on the left portion. Do I need a new bulb or is...

That is *not* a lamp problem. Definitely sounds like you have a some sort of video processing problem with the red signal. Just to be safe, try a complete factory reset in the menu. Sometimes, the auto-sync and other such functions cause the image to distort. This can happen if the projector is used with multiple image sources and the unit has to resize the image--it does this using mathematical algorithms. If resetting doesn't help, you need to explore repair options...remember, the unit has been around for awhile--shop around the search engines for quotes.

it's chirping because it's trying to keep in sync with the dmd chip. for the refresh rate, go into the menu and first reset the settings to factory default. if this doesn't clear it up, try matching the signal.

InFocus LP70 color problem

try resetting the settings to factory default through the menu. if there's still a problem, take the cover off. if you look from the back of the machine, inside on the bottom left, you'll see the main board attached by a large white plug. use something thin and non-metalic to push the bottom of the board towards the plug to tighten it. now do the same to the other side of the plug. this should solve it. if it doesn't, you need to replace the main board.

Optoma HD72 displays white circles when the picture is dark

Have your projector professionally cleaned. It is dust in the inside optics. You should not attempt unless you are very skilled. if you are going to do this yourself have a lot of compressed air on hand.

InFocus LP70 Won't display Top 3/4 of screen even with new bulb

if the colorwheel stopped spinning, the projector would shut off. take the lamp out and spin the colorwheel (with a pencil eraser) to the clear section and look at the square on the other side. if it's not a complete square or something is inside the square, your light tunnel is collapsing and needs replacement (also called an integrator rod).

Infocus LP70 - It's all Green

A tinted image (whether green or another color) is almost always a symptom of a bad or damaged cable - or a loos cable connection. In your case, you'll likely need a new M1 to VGA cable (Part# SP-DVI-A-R).

Assuming that you've made sure that the cable connections are solid at both ends, there is a simple test to verify that this is a cable issue and not a costly projector issue. While the image is tinted green, open the menu. If the menu colors appear fine while the rest of the image is still tinted green it's the cable.
