Question about Toshiba Satellite A45-S151 Notebook
I have a Tohsiba Satellite a45-s151, and recently wiped everything clean and reinstalled windows xp. Now it detects a wireless network, but i can't connect to them. Under device manager there's a red x next to "Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection," but because I am not a tech wizard, I have no idea what to do about it (although I suspect I might need to download a driver, but where to get it?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I still have the same problem.
I installed the driver. No more red X -- but still no Internet.
I tried to connect directly using an ethernet cable. That didn't work either.
I ran an ipconfig /all command. Here were the results:
host name: toshiba user
primary dns suffix:
Node type: unknown
ip routing enabled: no
WINS proxy enabled: no
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: Intel(R0 Pro/100 VE Network Connection
Physical address: 00-08-0D-32-1C-F8
DHCP enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration IP address: 169..254.254.67
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Any help is much, much appreciated.

When you try to connect wirelessly to your network did get any pop up message like asking you for a network key WPA/WEP? if your wireless network is security enabled then you need to enter the security settings again on the computer since you re-installed XP the security settings that was saved previously was also wiped out.
May I know the exact model number of wireless router/access point that your trying to connect your laptop so that I can provide you with instructions on how to retrieve the security key.
