Question about Projection Televisions

We have a Grundig GU19WDVDT and can't adjust the brightness, colour or contrast. We get to the right page on the menu but those bars are 'greyed out' and the cursor leaps from the top to the bottom of the page. Any idea how we can get to them?

You need to go into the menu...select picture mode and then select custom. This will allow you to change the picture to how you want it. Vivid/Standard etc are pre-setup so you can't adjust those.
Hope this helps...

Can I ask you to try something for me...do you have the digital working on this tv? If you go to your digital tv menu are you allowed to move up & down the on-screen menu & select the highlighted text. I am having problems with this.

Thank you,
CrystalGecko

I cant get the color right. its to red??? any help? i did notice with the back cover off, there are 6 adjustment screws

yes! those are the screen and focus adjustments. 3 for screen, 3 for focus. try this. go in menu....turn down color, brightness, contrast all they way down. you should then have no picture, but in your case a little red. then go to back of tv and turn those 3 screen adjustments all the way down. slowly turn the screens back up until you get barely a picture. because remember, your brightness and contrast is all the way down. the picture should be dim but seeable and with red, green, blue adjustments, make it a black and white picture. when balanced..... turn up color , brightness, contrast in menu. enjoy!

Need tv service codes to adjust sub brightness, contrast, grey scale etc.

no need for sevice codes. you should have dials on the unit to make adjustsments. the only adjustment you need to make is the contrast. if the colors are to bright take the tv back to b/w and retune

Convergence Problem and Contrast Adjustment

Have you checked all of the resistors inthe convergence circuit as well? If not, check them for the correct impedance.. Remember, you have to pull one side of the resistor out of circuit to measure it correctly.
If all of the resistors are good, then you have to do a coarse convergence adjustment on the set through the service menu.. if you need the service manual for the convergence directions, I have one uploaded in the technicians corner of techlore.com

Hi, I have just purchased the Samsung LE37A559 tv. I have been trying to get the best colour settings brightness colour contrast tint backlight etc. Is there a optimum setting for all of these ? I am...

The problem is that everyone has a different "taste" when it comes to these settings. I like to turn the color all the way down to start with. You should (if the set is factory adjusted correctly) have a black and white picture. If it's not B&W, then there's something inside the set that needs adjusted and you should get a service call. Then I adjust brightness and contrast to get the best B&W picture. Then I turn the color up until I'm happy with the color level, then I adust tint.

Hope that helps

Green shadows surrounding bright whites

finally a consumer that gives us plenty of info :)
sounds like an overdriven green tube, the only thing you can try is to find the G2/Focus block assembly, either behind front speaker grill or remove back of set and look for a black box approximately 5"X5" , this box will have 6 philips type adjustment screws(plastic) 3 are for focus, do NOT adjust these,
the other 3 are marked "screen" the center screen adjustment screw is for green, turn it VERY slowly counterclockwise while the set is running and pray that your problem dis-appears, be advised that this is a HIGH VOLTAGE device so one hand in your back pocket the other hand turns the screwdriver, if the problem does not go away you have a poor green tube, good luck, sorry I can`t give you the exact location of the G2/Focus block, manufacturers move them to different places every year.

Apex rear model?

I would say it's a adjustment you will need, is the convergence aligment ok, to adjust this you will need to find the adjusment block in the front, this is a black unit about 4" x4" and has lot's of wires that comes in.
On this block there will writing on it focus, and screen, well your half way there.
Adjust the green screen control downard to see if it adjuses your green problem if it does, here how you adjust the rest.
First go to your menue, turn the colours off. yes off.
next put contrast to max.
next turn your brighness to 40%
Nest ajust the screen control until you no longer see any trace line of the colour you or seing so that at the end product you het the best black and white picture you can. This will give you the end resolt for best picture posible.
Adjust the other colour after, to see if you or close to the corect adjustment go back to the menu and turn contrast down you shouldn't see any trace line.
Another problem people don't understand this unit have to be clear once's every 2 years.
This I won't explain it's a very long process if done right . Rear projectors has to be clear because with time you will notice the picture looks like you have catarack. or white filtering of the picture. This is when you know it need's cleaning, I do it all the time when I go to customer home, yes I do house call's. I think I'm the last one out there, most shop what's the tv in the shop mostly to be able to control the price there about to hit you with and if the customer doesn't pay there just sale it, they have the control and not you.

I hope this help, keep in mind it's very expensive to have tv repairs, but you have to pay, this what keep's tech going without them, well you can just imagine.

Adjusting visuals on the TV does nothing

This problem may have been coming from the Flyback Transfromer or the Tippler, you have to be a technician to adjust that! if you are, well first thing is to put the TV ON and sent up all the level to max for the brightness & Contrast, then after try to adjust the Flyback screen voltage for hi bright, if it work there, try back now to see if you are getting any control of the menu of brightness & contrast to work! please be careful, there about 28K volts to 35K volts, this can kill anyone... IF YOU ARE NOT A TECHNICIAN PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THIS TV.... RandyXi CriticaL PaniX
