Water on Drivers side Saturn SC2

My son has a 2001 SC2 3 door Saturn. Last night when he went to get into his car the front drivers side floor boards and mat were soaking wet. Not the passenger side. Could not find a leak anywhere. We dried it up left it in the garage overnight and again this morning there was water on the driers side floor boards. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response, the leak is pure water.. WE already dried it out overnight, it was dry last night. but again this morning after he drove it there was water on the drivers side.

Thank you to all, The leak is pure water. I also called Saturn and they think that the sunroof drain is stopped up. We did the overnight trick, we dried up the water with towels and a blowdryer. and then left it in the garage overnight. and then had water show up again on the drivers side only after driving the car this morning- Thursday. We had heavy rain in NC on Monday and Tuesday ( of course we have had heavy rains before and no leaks) so this was puzzling that it took a full day - Wednesday for the leak to start.

I've had the same problem for almost a year now. I completely dried the drivers side floorboard and this morning it was soaking wet. It DID rain, but it does the same thing even when it doesn't rain. Its not wet on the outer part of the floorboard at all. (like the area surrounding the door and the upper part of the floorboard. Its completely wet in the area of the floormat more towards my car seat. It is pure water, its not antifreeze. I don't know where to even begin looking for the problem. I also have a sunroof/moonroof and my car is a 97 Nissan 200sx.

Is it antifreeeze from heater core or heater core hose leak?  Is the leak pure water, or maybe something else?
Put it in the garage again overnight with an old white towel in the drivers foot well, best if you can find a way to stretch it from drivers seat forwar to firewall and keep it off of floor mat.  Check it before you go to bed,  then in the morning if no leak found yet.  see if the color/location of the spot helps you identify the source.  I think the heater core is under the dash center.  Anti freeze is green/yellow or orange.
good luck

Very odd,  the towel or a similar trick should help you locate/isolate,  please let us know, the suspense is killing me;~).

Of course you are sure that there is antifreeze in the cooling system (maybe you bought it second hand ? and haven't looked), right?  check the coolant overflow reservoir anyway for proper level.

Sometimes the A/C drain gets clogged and will leak water, but it should have all leaked out, it's fall now and the volume of this would be less than you describe ... unless you live in the Amazon;~)

Both of these would originate from the center under dash area.

This is a good one for NPR's CarTalk, Steve and Ray M. ... I want them to be scratching their heads;~)

Hmmm. betting they are right.  Car sitting at the perfect angle to drain very slowly down the A post, underneath the plastic trim, unseen.  Dealers are pretty smart sometimes;~)  ... of course they probably didn't figure the first one out so fast;-)!

    Hope it's a 100% effective!  Good luck

Water on drivers side floorboard . Why?

If you have a sunroof it could be the drain that follows the front pillar letting out under the front fender. These hoses are known to plug and crack open releasing water into the floorboards.

Driver side door check along top and front edge for tears or twisted looses sections. Internal to the door water can drain down along the window and is released outside the door seal. If the bottom of the door has the opening that releases the water plugged then water will drain over into the floorboard.

Why is flooring on drivers side wet during heavy rain along with flooring directly behind driver seat (in back seat area)??

If passenger side is dry it would point to a problem with the door seals on the drivers side either a door or sunroof if you have one. If there is that much water you could sit in the car, have someone use a garden hose or pressure washer on the door and sunroof to see where the leak comes from.

2004 rear drivers floor board is wet

Sounds like the door gasket or trunk gasket is not sealing.
You may have to take it to a body shop to find the problem.

2005 saturn vue water leaking on drivers side floor when it rains

If you have a sun roof this is most likely your problem. Drop the front of the headliner and check the front drain tubes. If they are detached reattach and your problem should be solved

Water accumulates only on the front and rear driver side floor boards and "only" after it rains. I was told it might be a plugged drain. How can you tell if its a plugged rain drain and not a poorly sealed...

take a star screw driver and punch a pair of holes in your floor on drivers side make sure once you go through push the screw driver towards the front of the car and creat angled pockets
these will be your new drains being so small they will bnot tako on water or they will take on a min of water and they will drain the floors

it''s the easiest way to fix the problem go right through the carpet it's just thet easy use a good pointy screw driver or a center punch but dont make the hole larger then 1/4 inch
a mechanic will carge you 250 to fix original drains and will likely do the same as i said a couple of wacks near the lower center on the floor boards
so get in place feet on floor slide them back against the seat with it all the way back now place pointy object between feet and wach it with a hammer
once through push pointy objest forward to create new drain
