How do I reboot a acer desktop PC

What OS are you using? Is the computer responding to the mouse/keyboard?

For Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, if your mouse is responding, click Start, then click on the drop-down menu (the arrow next to the button) on the bottom of the right-hand column. Choose Restart or Shut Down. If you choose Shut Down, wait a few seconds after the fans turn off before pressing the power button to turn the machine back on. From the keyboard, press the Windows key and then the right arrow, down arrow (until you highlight the button) and then right arrow. Then use the up/down arrow keys to select Restart.

If you have the new Windows 8, you need to launch the Charms menu by hovering the mouse at the top right edge of the screen. (For a Touch pad, swipe in from the right side of the pad.) Alternatively, press the Windows key and C at the same time. Then click Settings in the column on the right. Find the Power icon on the bottom of the list and click on it. Choose Restart.

It is possible to build a shortcut tile for restarting Win8. You need a new shortcut with the command "shutdown.exe -r -t 00" without the quotes. Enter the Desktop (if you aren't in that part of the Win8 experience). Right click on the screen where there are no programs or icons. Choose New Shortcut. Put the above line in the box for the location of the item. Click Next and give the shortcut a name. Click Finish. Right click on the icon that gets installed and choose Properties and then Change Icon (if you want a different icon). Click OK to get a list of possible icons. Click Apply to set the icon picture.

Then Pin the shortcut to the Start Menu with another right click.

I hope this helps.

Trying to disable/turnoff ie8 in dell latitude 610

Disable Internet Explorer 8 from Windows 7
1. Click on the Start Menu and go to Control Panel. Change the View by category to Large or Small icons then from the Control Panel list go into Programs and Features.
2. In the Programs and Features window click on the "Turn Windows features on or off" link on the left hand side. The Windows Features screen opens up, uncheck the box next to Internet Explorer 8.
3. You will get a confirmation box when you uncheck it saying it may affect other Windows features. It will if you don't have another browser installed but otherwise everything that usually opens in IE will open in your default browser.
4. After verifying you want to turn it off click OK. You will get a progress notification while Windows turns off IE 8. Restart the system.
5. After restarting, you will notice Internet Explorer 8 is no longer there. Anything you had linked to IE will be associated with another browser if you have one installed. It will also no longer appear in the Set Default Programs section.
6. If you go to the Open With list in Explorer you will see a generic Internet Browser icon that will open up whatever is your default browser.

Dear Sirs I have just insalled the SimpleCenter media but I do not want the icon to automatically load onto the task bar on the right hand side, although I would like the shortcut to remain. I can delete...

Hello,

You cannot delete the icon from the task bar as it only displays the start up programs running on the computer. I have given the steps below.

Click start, than click run. In this box type "msconfig" without quotes.
You will see the list of startup programs. Uncheck the ones related to the Simple center Media.
Click Aply, Than click close, than click Restart computer now.

The program will not load automatically and you would not see the icon in the taskbar.

I am sure this will help. Please update me on the same.

How to uninstall deep freeze from your pc?

To uninstall the software Deep Freeze must first be disabled and then uninstalled.
To disable Deep Freeze:
  1. Hold down the shift key and double-click on the Deep Freeze icon. Alternatively, you can press Crtl-Alt-Shift-F6. You should now see a password dialog.
  2. Enter your password and click OK. If you have not yet entered a password you should be able to click OK without entering anything. You should now see a dialog with boot options.

  4. Reboot your machine. After the machine reboots you are ready to uninstall Deep Freeze.
To uninstall:
  1. Locate the installation file you used to install Deep Freeze to this machine. By default the name of this file is called "DF5Std.exe" for versions 5.X and "DF6Std.exe" for versions 6.X.
  2. Run the installation file (DF5Std.exe or DF6Std.exe).
  3. Select the option to "Uninstall"
  4. The software should uninstall and reboot the machine. When the machine reboots, Deep Freeze should be uninstalled.
