Hi there, I have a Code 10 showing for the dvd player/burner... I have an Acer Aspire 5580-6974 and the device is called HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N ATA Device...It doesn't seem to recognize anything I put in.. it sounds like it's going to read the cd/dvd and then it just stops and doesn't do anything. When I go into control panel, it says the device cannot start, and Check for Solutions doesn't do anything either... any help would be appreciated!

Sound device conexant high definition audio(code18)error

Try control panel - system (if you are in classic view) system and maintenance in Vista - then device manager.

Now, look to see if there are any yellow question marks especially around your sound and video controller. If you know you have the right drivers you can right click and try to update the drivers. The other thing you can do is rollback the drivers. Another thing you can try which is what I do is right click and uninstall the device. Then restart you computer and when your computer restarts it should say that it has found a new device and begin trying to install it. If it has a problem locating the drivers go to the manufacturors website and download them it's usually free. Chances are if you bought this new from HP then they have a disk that has all the drivers that were installed on your laptop. (I'm guessing this is a laptop from the picture)

Hope this hlps!

IEEE1394 host controller cannot start code10

Yes you can update the driver yourself and it does sound like it is a driver problem. In device manager right click on your device and click on Install Driver. That will take care of the problem. But, you need a wireless router, the DHCP server of your ISP will not issue an IP address to a host only a router. The router has an IP address that is broadcast and issues private addresses for the host computers.

Don't forget to rate this solution.
