Hi The thermostat control is usually mounted inside the refrigerator. Its visible control knob is turned to regulate the refrigerator/freezer temperature. The workability of this control can be tested in various ways, depending on the problem. To test the thermostat control:

Step 1:
If the compressor runs all the time, turn the control knob to the OFF position. If the compressor still runs, unplug the unit, then pull off the control knob and remove the screws holding the thermostat in place. Pull out the thermostat and remove either the red or the blue wire from its terminal. Plug in the unit. If the compressor doesn't run, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new thermostat.

Step 2:
If the compressor runs after the wire is removed from its terminal, there is probably a short circuit somewhere in the unit's wiring. In this case, don't try to fix the problem yourself; call a professional service person.

Step 3:
If the refrigerator or freezer runs but the box doesn't cool, unplug the unit and remove the thermostat with a screwdriver. Disconnect both wires from the thermostat. Tape the ends of the wires together with electrical tape, and plug in the appliance. If the refrigerator starts and runs normally, the thermostat is faulty. Replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new thermostat the same way the old one was connected.

Step 4:
If the freezer compartment is normal but the refrigerator box doesn't cool, set the dials that control both compartments to mid-range. Remove these knobs (they're usually friction-fit). Then unscrew the temperature control housing; you'll see an air duct near the control. Replace the knob on the freezer thermostat and turn the control to the OFF position. Open the refrigerator door and look closely at the air duct. If this duct doesn't open wider in about ten minutes, the control is faulty. Replace the control with a new one of the same type. Connect the new control the same way the old one was connected.

What control panel? The panel that dispenses water or the control panel inside the fresh food compartment? What is your model number?

You are probably seeing the Er IF error code that indicates a problem with the ice compartment fan.

The Er IF error code indicates that the main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct. If you are advanced in technical skills, you may be able to correct this problem yourself. It will require the removal of the inside back panel of the freezer compartment. This is not an easy task. I recommend that you review the procedure for this task that is shown in the image below. Make sure that you are able to safely perform the tasks described before proceeding with this repair. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Once you access the ice fan, you may find excessive frost in this area and on the evaporator that could be causing your cooling problem and fan problem. If you defrost this area, you may find that you do not need to replace parts. If you find no excessive frost or the Er IF error code resumes after removing any frost then you will likely need to replace the ice fan. You can order this part here.

The fan is not moving its all clean, what can i do to make it work?

I have seen this caused by a faulty ADC Adaptive Defrost Control. These boards are found in the fresh food compartment Click here=> ASD2325KES Control Panel and behind the control panel where you set your thermostat temperature.. Reason I always include this in my solution is the control board is electronic and is used as defrost control. That means it needs to turn fans and compressor on and off as needed and I have seen strange symptons cause by these boards. Some fans get rusted if the refrigerator if door was left shut before storage and not air dried so moisture remains. Here is the=> 67004704 Defrost Control Board Always unplug refrigerator while in this area. Here is the location for part location 12 Here=> ASD2325KES_Control_Panel Sometimes just looking on both sides of the ADC you may see burn marks but not always. Also the fan can be removed and mounted to a table and wire it for 120 VAC. If it runs fine. That way then you know that the fan is good and points back to ADC Board. Here is the fan replacement part number=> W10128551 Evaporator Fan Motor

Item number 4 is=> 2304146 Control Board this is a defrost control board found behind the controls just above the top shelf inside your fresh food section and behind the controls. Many times you may find burn marks that indicate that the board is defective. Always disconnect power to refrigerator before working with electrical parts. This is the most likely cause for your refrigerator not defrosting but only the first thing of three parts to examine. Our refridgerator is no longer cooling.

Is it not cooling at all? Like you to try a few things to help locate the problem. Look inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are and try to turn the defrost timer clockwise. May be hard to find but inside the controls panel where light and thermostat are located look for a small opening or plastic plug about the size of a pencil. Turn the timer by putting pencil eraser or something big enough to turn it until you hear a click and the refrigerator stops running or if the refrigerator compressor begins to run. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze
