Question about HP Compaq Presario v3000z Notebook

HP PPavilion zv6000 notebook grinding fan

I think it's time for a new fan in my notebook. I can't afford a new book and I'm getting a lot of grinding. How do I replace the fan and get a quieter better running machine? I'm fairly certain I am way past my warranty so that's a non issue.
Oh, let me add, I don't even know how to get inside the machine so I need to know that too.
Thanks!
Nancy

First of all, you need purchase the required Sink-Fan Assembly which is currently not available with HP. The Part Number of this part is 383880-001 (Thermal frame - Include CPU fan and thermal paste).
I recommend you to try purchasing this part if it is available for sale in any online computer part store.
You can find the details of this part from www.laptopking.com
Find the image of the part by clicking here.
You can also try calling 1-800-786-4311 to find out if the above mentioned part is available with Laptopking.com or not....
You can find the required instructions to remove and replace the required part from the Notebook from the Manual which is available through the link below :

HP Dv8233cl fan grinding

You only need to replace the fan, not the heatsink assembly.
Your computer repairer can do it or you can do it yourself once you identify the size of the fan and buy a matching one. You may have to solder a new connector on the lead.

I think the fan is making a super loud grinding noise.

I would not recommend this. You could fry your cpu and then you would have no notebook. If you are going to open the notebook make sure there is nothing interfering with the fan. The fan can be replace. Take the fan out and try to replace it, if needed. Do not run the notebook without a fan.

Hp laptop dv9500 noisy and loud fan ...

The sound you are hearing is probably the fan, This fan has a noisy bearing and will eventually lock up and the fan will stop spinning and therefore the CPU will overheat and shutdown.
The fan needs to be replaced.

HP ZV6000 Fan Making Noise

I had a similar problem on my zv6000, but I've tracked it down to the fan in the middle (not the one above the CPU with the heatsink).

For anyone else that doesn't feel like taking your laptop apart twice (once to get the part number and twice to put the new fan in after you get it online, etc.), the fan is a Sunon Maglev GC 056015VH-A. HP doesn't carry them in the parts store anymore, but I ordered mine online from an independent retailer.
