Hello,

Take the lcd assembly apart, and disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable on the back of the lcd. Also disconnect and reconnect the other end of that cable. If that doesn't fix it, disconnect and reconnect both cables that go to the inverter board (it's the small circuit board inside the lcd assembly- example in picture below). If still no good, then you probably need a new inverter board. Call HP and get a phone number for one of their parts suppliers. Inverter boards are cheap ($10-$20). Even if it doesn't fix it, it doesn't cost much to try. If still no good, then take it to a service shop.

Hope this helps!

Samsung S27B350 monitor intermittently goes black and has a constant flutter. Could this be a capacitor problem.

I think I have the solution for this. I just purchased a monitor and it immediately began to flicker and then blank the screen. I pulled it apart, but to no avail.
The problem is caused by the computer powering down the monitor, for example a laptop will power down the monitor to save battery life. It is the awakening of the monitor that causes the flickering. Obviously there is a software bug in the firmware that will not allow it to synch properly. The fix is pretty obvious, just stop the computer from powering down the monitor. You can still blank the screen using a screen saver, which is what I have done, but you are not getting the full power saving.
I hope this helps someone else - it drove me crazy for a day or so.

My screen is flickering on my HP pavilion dv5-1015nr. Is it worth it to take it apart and see if it is a loose cable connecting the screen?

Hello,

Yes. When your screen starts to flicker, you need to loosen it to check for a loosened cable connecting to the screen. You can as well assess the module for any damage, if the module is bad, then you replace it.

If your laptop is still under warranty, then you need to take it back to the dealer that supplied it to you for their technical support. So they will either fix it for you or replace it. Be sure to have your warranty card or letter when taking it back to the dealer, if not they will not attend to you.

It is mainly caused when the laptop is dropped hard or hit a hard object. So be sure you have it carefully handled.

Take care and good luck.

Projection television acting like an old picture tube TV.

Yes, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:
